Something that has bugged me for some time about some our players...

When they are approaching a contested ball situation their first instinct is to go to ground. Some of the prime examples of this are Douglas, Danger (unfortunately), Doughty, Reilly.

Today add in Luke Thompson, VB, even Truck trying to make diving tackles that leave them out of the contest if they miss.

Combine these with too many players slipping over and it makes it just way too easy for the opposition to get away with the ball.

It is not a matter of not trying, but maybe tring too hard in a clumsy and desperate manner rather than keeping some poise.

Usually the result of a self-perceive lack of pace - players go to ground because they feel that picking the ball up will result in them being tackled as they don't have the pace to burst away.

The result of having a slow side.

You are probably on to something there - especially Douglas and Reilly. But Danger? There may be times to dive on the ball/opponent, but not to have this as the first instinct every time.
