I personally think there will be change.

Its strange for a mid season departure in one of the highest roles in the game. I wouldnnt be surprised if some things come to light over the next month or so
He got pushed, ratings down, crowds down and the cacophony about him was getting louder , the crowds are down regardless of restrictions, and the ratings, C7 got him in the end, Gilligan had to protect his bonuses

I don't necessarily think he was pushed, I just think he saw the writing on the wall and knew he wouldn't have the excuses of Covid next year to cover his failings. The timing of the Geelong role was perfect to bail out before any consequences.
If he was starting to get any pressure internally then it would have just given him that extra reason to jump

I think its evident there have been other forces against us

Nope, too sudden and too short a notice period to clean out your desk, he was sacked

Its so conflicted one could see pressure for the CEO role to open up to help move him on. Its obvious the game has been brought into disrepute and nothing has been done at AFL HQ to address it in public. Everything behind closed doors signals one thing really

Gerard Whately decides to have a week off this week of all weeks to, how convenient

Let's just leave this here...View attachment 1171251
What a disgrace. Make no mistake the afl are basically the oppo but with POWER. they got salty at our success because they probably had their turn in potting us back in the day too. They probably had all their brains trust analyzing what we did to gain an advantage and thus have made the rules of 666 , man on mark etc. Some of them didn't work so they kept going to apply rule after rule til we were ****ed ALONG with leaking to media they hated us too add more pressure.

Now they think the job is done and SHocking is satisfied and has left.

then why is no one talking about this ? surely there are some journos out there that can dish on the the real reasons

No matter which club it was it is absolute corruption of the highest order if they changed the rules of the game to nullify the success of one club. The fact that he has hightailed it back to Geelong highlights how possibly conflicted he was in the afl role. This seems Dodgy as hell.
This. If for some reason it wasn't for us it still is cooked. You can't change the rules just to bring down a team on top. Even if it was collonwood or something I'd still feel uneasy about it. Change rules IF it is needed. Not to make things unnecessarily even ffs. Let the game evolve naturally.

Are they owned, not independent? Speak out be ostracised

Its not just that, its other political connections to I heard about.

Eg. P Dangerfield also head of PA in terms of representing the players and his move to Geelong was strategic and will be looking at life after footy in the footy landscape in some capacity no doubt. Go back decades this was hardly an option.

Has any one club had that much strategic influence in positions of power organisationally across the league and media? On top of that the coach has a twin brother ex-coach and now in AFL HQ admin. The point is normal market forces representing the peoples will and interest do not prevail with such conflicts. Not only that curiously a lot of change has been brought about recently, was such change seriously scrutinised?

The other thing the tenure of these positions seem more elongated these days compared to the past, more money involved. Less turnover like career politicians

Spot on

Does anyone actually think anything will change? The next one will just be another Gil puppet.

AFL is jobs for the mates, not jobs for the competent.
Don’t be surprised if Gil is next .
Mick Warner has opened up a can of worms and plenty of others are now starting to talk .

The hatred for the Tigers at the moment is something I’ve never seen directed at a club in all my years of watching footy … or am I just seeing things that aren’t there ?….rules changes which I feel are a knee jerk reaction to the way we play and our success …. The AFL and the press openly bad mouthing the club … you have Whateley and Robbo squealing about the state of the game ….and Hocking has done a disgraceful job …anyone would think that the AFL is corrupt … History shows once gambling gets involved in sport corruption usually isn’t far behind …. Fellow Tigers am I seeing things that aren’t there ?
