How many chances does Dog need ?

You think even he would have learnt.

He often mentions how difficult it was to tell the coach the first time he ********ed up, yet he's done it again twice (that we know of).

Does he want to be a great footballer?

Sorry to be ignorant, but what/when are the other 2?

He aint going anywhere. Good to see some spirit from the boys.

Last time I checked, getting arrested for being drunk and disorderly wasn't a good thing. Now, as far as we all know, too little information has gotten out with the story to go on making assumptions, but please, don't try and put a positive spin on this.

Well Sj and Mackie probably put more effort in2 the fight etc than the whole team ON the field....

Continuing that rich vein of logic, let's encourage the whole team to hit the booze and start a brawl. I mean, hell, all we need is to see some effort and we're all satisfied. Screw everything else.

mackie will get traded back to adelaide (power or crows). he's a good player but needs a better noggin. i guess if you haven't established your spot in 3 years, in a side that bloods youngsters and needs fowards, then you're not too flash.

Strike 3, he should be out.

Regardless of injuries, if he isn't in the VFL this week then Thompson isn't fair dinkum. I've had a gutful of this dill dragging the club through the mud all because he can't bloody grow up.

He might have all the talent in the world but if the attitude and commitment isn't there then he'll be just an average player being paid handsomely. That appears to be all he wants.

Considering he's stuffed up the last 2 pre-seasons,which have screwed his last 2 seasons,he's bloody lucky he even gets a 3rd chance.

He's a bloody good player [when rarely fit],but he's got sh*t for brains.

They were drunk celebrating Mackie's 21st. They were detained by police, not arrested.

If we let Steve Johnson go then it sums up our club and we are going nowhere. We put all the faith in the world in players like Charlie Gardiner who show us nothing but "Gee, he's a nice hard working bloke".

We haven't walked away from Cam Mooney and we can't walk away from Steve Johnson. We can never be above human. People make mistakes, some more than others, but it's the job of Geelong Football Club and everyone involved to ensure our players learn and develop.

And as for this 3 strikes rubbish, what are the other two strikes?

Johnno needs the game time. I don't think we can afford to drop him.

If we drop him, we may as well not play him for the rest of the year because he'll be underdone for match fitness.

One week in the VFL, so he can be made to watch Ling and Corey for the entire game to show what sort of fitness and hard work it takes to make it.

6am sprint sessions for S Johnson and 6am weight sessions for Mackie every day in October. No holiday for them.

Re-Sign them both to two years deals this week.

Why would you punish the team by dropping a talent like Johnson? It would only hurt the club, not the individual. Remember the hawks dropping Luke Hodge against the Cats. Who did that hurt? Hodge, No. HFC, Yes.

Your right with the training sessions though. 6am sprints should hurt the Johnson and maybe teach him a lesson, but you have to play him this week.

As for all the people saying '3 strikes and out', wake up, talents llike Johnson dont come everyday, he is very young, nurse him though the next year or two and watch him blossom into one of the most dangerous forwards going around. Or maybe these people would like to like him turn into a dangerous forward at Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond... That would be great.

You people are terrible.

One more thing to the person who was raving on about the players popping pills? The drug tests that these players have so often undertake do not pick these up?.

Are you actually a Geelong Supporter? If you are, it is not wise to downgrade your club by spreading rumours without strong evidence to back you up. Even it is is true, i would keep that kind of thing to myself so the club does not suffer. What is wrong with you people? Stick together as a club. I know the times are tough at the moment, but remember we're not fans of Carlton. Things could be worse.

How do these things actually get out into the media?
Is there a formal process i.e. do the players' contracts oblige them to tell the club, does the club tell the media to stop inaccurate rumours?
Or was it just people who knew/recognised the players rushing off to dob them in?

Good question.

The ch7 reporter that broke the story,Dylan Howard,is an ex-Geelong Advertiser journo,so maybe he has some connections in Geelong [cops, nightclubs .. etc] that got him the story.
