I would literally shit myself, good luck i imagine you wish you
hadn't read this thread now.

Only way i will ever leave the
country is on a boat.

Nah, all good. I fly a lot with
work. The drive to the airport is much more dangerous.

Last contact

The most confusing and heated part of the press conference concerned the last known sighting of the aircraft. Hussein confirmed that it was last picked up by military rather than civilian radar.

The authorities initially stated that the plane lost contact with air traffic control at 1.20am, 40 minutes after take off from Kuala Lumpa.

On Tuesday air force chief Tan Sir Rodzali Daud wasd reported as saying the plane was later detected at 2.40am over the Malacca Strait. He has since denied saying this.

Today a military chief said the flight was last picked up at 2.15am local time.

Civil aviation chief Rahman said analysis of the defence radar showed an “indication of an air come back, hence that’s the reason why a search was conducted in Malacca and the Andaman Sea.”

An official gave the position of the last radar signal at 2.15am as 200 miles north west of the mainland. But he said this needed to be corroborated.

Hussein pointed out that this was not a definite contact with the missing plane. “The primary data does not tell you about the aricraft per se. It requires corroboration and detailed analysis by experts.”

Challenged on the conflicted data, he added: “It is only confusing if you want it to be seen to be confusion. We have been very consistent.”

Maybe he had her bent over in the.............

cockpit..

Could be. Was it sherlock holmes who said that once you have eliminated everything else whatever remains must be the truth even if it is improbable but still possible?

That could apply in this situation here. Mid air explosion pretty much ruled out - hundreds of boats in the area would have seen something and none of the numerous flights nearby saw anything.. If there was anythihg in the cargo manifest that could have caused a fire we'd know about it by now so that's pretty much dismissed. Depressurerisation - no, because ACARS would immediately report it, the pilots would get plenty of warning that it is happening and would have at least 60 seconds to put their masks on. Desisgn Flaw - nearly impossible after 10 million flights and 20 years if service. Mechanical Failure / poor maintenance - Malaysian one of the best carriers in the world in regards to maintenance and safety levels so most likely no. Terrorism - by now every single passenger would have been looked at for any possible connection to terrorism and none found. Highly unlikely.

We're really only left with either pilot error, pilot suicide or a fire caused by a passenger (remember we had the ey461 incident a few weeks ago) that incapacitated everyone onboard as realistic possibilities. Looking at things logically of course.

Exactly. The same people that worry about flying after an accident then go and drive down the monash freeway after a fatal accident. Go figure. If you are going to worry about being involved in an air crash you should also plan on winning lotto because it is more likely.

It is only confusing if you want it to be seen to be confusion.

That quote reminds me of the Evans press conference describing the letter from Doc Reid.

They're confused about the confusion.

Safety check

During the press conference Malaysia Airlines was asked whether it was aware of a warning by the US officials about potential cracking that could compromise the safety of the Boeing 777.

In November the Federal Aviation Administration warned airlines to look out for corrosion under the skin of the fuselage.
The Daily Telegraph reported it warning:

We received a report of cracking and corrosion in the fuselage skin underneath the SATCOM antenna adapter . During a maintenance planning data inspection, one operator reported a 16-inch crack under the 3-bay SATCOM antenna adapter plate in the crown skin of the fuselage on an aeroplane that was 14 years old with approximately 14,000 total flight cycles.

Rahman was asked whether he had full confidence in the structural integrity of the missing Boeing 777 aircraft. He said: “From our records the aircraft when its flying is airworthy. It complies to all the directives.”

He confirmed that Malaysia had received the warning from the FAA about the Boeing’s fuselage.

Malaysia Airlines chief executive Ahmad Jauhari Yahyain added: “We ensure that all our aircraft are airworthy and comply with all the [circulars] issued by the manufacturers.”

He said he would check whether the missing plane was inspected for the known fault.

Poor bastards.

Think about the family who missed the flight. When I miss a flight i'm in a foul mood just imagine how you'd feel when you discover that flight has crashed. Can't even begin to comprehend it. Apparently there was one bloke who ran to the gate to get on PA 103 and begged the gate attendants to let him on but was told no. Staggering.

During today’s press conference Malaysia armed forces chief Zulkifeli Mohd Zin admitted that he was “baffled” by why the missing plane sent no distress signal.

He also confirmed that the military were not tracking the plane in real time. He said:

When we looked back at the recording. It proved there is a possibility that this aircraft made a turn back. But we are not sure if it is the same aircraft.
We did not track it in real time.

Zin said the raw data would be released once it had been corroborated.

I'm ruling out the wing being broken because of a previous problem, they say boeing had fixed it.

I'm not ruling out those Iranians.

I'm not ruling out it has landed somewhere by terrorists to be used at another time.

It could have been intended to be turned back by hijackers to hit the Malaysian Twin towers.

I'm ruling out the plane spontaneously combusted.

It could be in outer space.

I'm hoping terrorists landed it, hostages alive to be rescued.

Is it possible for terrorists to deactivate the black box and all other communications?

Well it definitely isn't in outer space. Those two Iranians are normal people by all accounts and were looking to migrate to Germany illegally. Hence why they used fake passports with their photo on it.

Terrorists could disable all of the transponders if they knew what they are doing I guess. If it was terrorism then surely there is top secret negotiations going on at the moment. I think the Malaysian Air Force would have shot it down if it flew back towards KL and was unresponsive.

Well after narrowing it down to 2 options (catastrophic failure or pilot suicide) I'm almost starting to think terrorism again. If the plane did have an issue with cabin pressure or anything else that required it to fly at a lower altitude, whyyyy wasn't this communicated? Flying low also avoids detection, which makes me wonder if something more sinister is going on. So in conclusion... I have no ****ing idea what the **** is going on.
