I thought 18 months ago Stokes would find it hard to get a senior game. How wrong was I ? Been great this year and deserves his 2 year contract extension.

He does form a dangerous combo with Motlop and Bundy - and if we can get Varcoe in on the act - all will be well at the Cats. If those 4 play well we would be quite hard to beat IMO.

There was a small piece in the HS today that indicated negotiations are well advanced. In the piece Mots had indicated he was going nowhere. Still not keen on 5 year deals and don't anticipate this one will be.

Cookie,in his statement today, said the club had a number of bands within which players are placed. 5 or 6 players are in the $600,000 to $700,000 band which is the top. Falling down to the lowest paid on $60,000. Be interesting to know how many bands there are, the money figure, and the number of players within each band. My gut feeling Stoker would be on between $250,000 and $300,000.

Don't think he'd be on much actually. Not because he doesn't deserve it, but reading the article on his 150th last week in the Addy, I got the impression he'd be a bit like Tom Harley a few years ago in that he'd be happy to stay for way less than market value.
