Has Ben Perkins retired, REH? If he hasn’t, or even if he has and wants to unretire, he would be my first phone call the moment Ken finally leaves because, man, goal kicking is our biggest problem atm.
The club spoke to him a couple of years ago but he couldn't meet their request for having a very formulated and documented procedure so that they could use his system when he's not at the club - ie try and save $$$.

Ben is a touchy, feely type kicking coach, not an academic type kicking coach. His best work is working one on one, not writing a text book for others to follow.

Sounds perfect to me

Starting with Mitch Georgiades. This guy has tremendous potential but he will never be a complete footballer until he fixes his kicking at goal. As I posted on the match review thread that miss from 35 metres on a slight angle in the first quarter of the last Showdown should have been kicked every time. We will not fix the problem if we do not try.

How’s about a fitness guy who values some gym work, most of our players look malnourished.
We have had the same sports dietician for the entirity of Ken's reign, just saying. Lovely woman but I'd love a new approach.

Probably the first time all year we looked like we were running harder and finishing much stronger than our opponent. The crows barely touched the ball in the last 10 minutes.

I don’t think fitness lost us this one. But it’s hurt us in other games. Maybe we are finally starting to build our base level fitness to the levels required.

And improve his technique and add some power to legs and hips so he can roast them from beyond the 50.

He was initially looking to pass it off but he decided to have a crack and missed everything and didn’t even make the distance.

Maybe he should be copping blame for the two players we've had go down with hamstrings this game?
And the Geelong bloke for the 2 hammy's Geelong has coped.

Jones has a history of hammy issues. Those type of players never get over it. JHF did his and he wasn't even going at 3/4 pace. That is probably a back related hammy.

Wowee.

Fitness has multiple components, but most important is mindset. The belief you can run all day. The belief you can be hit and get back up. The ability to execute under fatigue and pressure.

Is Mitch, Lord, Finlayson, etc etc failing to kick goals an issue of skill? How about all the kicks and handballs missed by a metre or so?

At some point we have to acknowledge that the team and club lack any back bone, any toughness - physical or mental, and rely on emotion to win.

We are a joke of a list, fitness group, coaching group and club. Port Adelaide FC is a punch line.
