Nice article on Nick HERE.

AFTER an injury-riddled start to his career, Fremantle defender Nick Suban has a simple goal for the 2012 season: "Play the majority of the year and play consistent footy".

Suban, who suffered a broken leg last season and a serious ankle injury in 2010, will play his 50th game on Saturday, against the Sydney Swans at the SCG, and it is a milestone he hopes will signify a change of fortune.

Rarely post... mainly just read and enjoy training reports... but when I looked at that list of draftees from the one year I was inspired. Top draft year for us! The year after wasn't too shabby either! :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Hill
Suban
Ballantyne
Clarke
DeBoer
Broughton

More than a quarter of our best 22 from one draft. If all those guys end up somewhere near the level we expect it will be one of the all time great drafts from any club.

Yep I think we struck gold in the 08 and 09 drafts, off the back of just two drafts we've set ourselves nicely up for the forseeable future, you can add Barlow, Fyfe, Silvagni and Morabito from the 09 draft.

Really like Suban, hope he plays a blinder tomorrow.

Bond/Lloyd influence in drafting?

Yep, both the 08 and 09 drafts were brilliant for us.

If you look at 09, sure Bolly and Houghton are gone, but past those draft picks there was no-one of real significance picked up anyway. In fact, there are look to be a lot of busts higher up in the draft. We did brilliantly to land Mora, Fyfe, Barlow and Silvagni.

Whilst you are 99% correct, I think you will find young Reid playing for Sydney at CHF was drafted after Houghton.....imagine having him to top off our drafting in 2009!

drooooool. reid is a spectacular player. takes a speccy or two pretty much every game. and he's only a baby too. and being a reid hurts that little bit extra too, with the whole ben reid/tarrant/medhurst debacle. calm blue ocean. calm blue ocean.

Throw in Clancee of the overflow and that's 7 of your best lineup.

The only disappointments, Walters, Sibisado and Bucovaz while Tim Ruffles had a shocking run with injuries so he's not a hit or a miss.

Using this link to help, http://stats.afl.com.au/public/stat...lue=215&season_idIndex=112&AFLstatisticMenu=1, you seem to have got another winner from the 2008 AFL Drafts with JVB.

Not high on Reid, athletic yes, but average kick of the ball. Not the type we need up forward when Mayne misses a lot of shots.

A guy who marks everything kicked in his direction even against a top class backman?

Yeah we don't need one of those up forward.

Reid was amazing today. I think his problems with goal kicking are overstated, and he was a clear b.o.g. until half time (when the damage was done). its not just his marking in the forward fifty that's so important for the swans. he plays their sandi role to clear it from the press. he's still young, and hasn't actually played that many games. i reckon his kicking will come good. really wish he could have waited for next week for one of his good kicking games :(

Four today. Fyfe, Hill, Pav for nothing, Mayne the 'druple...wtf?

That is the whole point though - any time we have to rely on Mayne to be our key forward (instead of being the hard working third or fourth forward that bobs up for a couple of bonus goals here and there) you know we are in trouble...
