Yep because clubs like Richmond poached their talent. Lynch Prestia Caddy. So everyone else has to suffer because of it ?Maybe when the Tasmanian market can be seen without a microscope.
Bringing up Tasmania is such a meaningless argument. You're getting caught in the hype of all the media commentators screaming "We need a tassie team!" without understanding how limited the market is, both through small population, and being compromised by North and Hawthorn selling home games there for so many years.
Gold Coast market has far greater potential, they just need to get it right. Looked like they were getting there in 2014, but the bubble burst in a bad way. Now, stuck in a rut, the AFL is giving them assistance, exactly like they gave Melbourne, and people like you are outraged.
Yeah i know that is my point. People keep saying what the Suns got is fine because the AFL can just take those future picks back if they improve, well if they trade them they can not take them back... Take 1 and 2 to the Draft and trade the rest away before the AFL have any chance to take them back.afl won’t take them

I see you're not capable of discussing this subject rationally. No reason to continue.Yep because clubs like Richmond poached their talent. Lynch Prestia Caddy. So everyone else has to suffer because of it ?
Most people are pretty annoyed. Melbourne and Adelaide are the clubs getting screwed over the most here thoughYeah i know that is my point. Good luck..you guys have hit the jackpot and as carlton finished 3rd bottom we were not be in a position to draft anderson luckily as it turns out or otherwise there might have been a riot. It does seem like the presidents and ceo's of the other clubs are not happy and you really would want this massive draft pick jackpot bonanza to work or it could be time to cut the losses..not my words but those of kennet and a few others.
Id argue Essendon is no different.Injuries and depth have always been our issue. Our best 22 is competitive against most teams, but injuries kill us every year. No doubt the latest concessions are aimed at improving our depth.
Well people in Tasmania have been continually asking for a side for how many years? Do people in Queensland really care that much for AFL?I see you're not capable of discussing this subject rationally. No reason to continue.
Most of the discussion ended up in the main DT&FA board. Might merge these two threads once it calms down a bit, but if you're curious about the reaction you can see here: Confirmed Priority Picks for Gold Coast - next 3 years
I didn't say only pick 11.
Maybe GC 2nd rd tgrown in too
They have Brisbane who finished 2nd
Pretty sure from memory the AFL ended GWS’s concessions early when they became very good.afl won’t take them
Is Fiorini Avaliable?!Essendon have reaped the rewards of the Suns with Saad and GWS as well. An argument could easily be made that it was the AFL that mismanaged the club
Is it unfair that big clubs like yours pick the eyes out of small ones? Because that’s been happening for decades
I think even most Suns supporters were surprised with the extra picks but to get some experienced talent in, maybe those picks are necessary as we don’t have much other currency or things going for us at the moment. We have enough talented kids. I would certainly prefer trading them for the right experienced players.Id argue Essendon is no different.
A fairly good 22.
Lose TBC, our ruck stocks struggle
Lose Smith and our mid depth is tested with a number of sub 30 gamers
Lose Daniher there isn't anyone to replace him
Lose Fantasia, we have no other smalls
That was our season.
I should clarify, i'm not disputing Pick 1 or the zone/academy protection.
19, 9 and 19 seems like overkill. Predicting 2-3 years of no improvement is fraught with risk, and i dont have faith in the AFL to see the obvious in front of them let alone trying to predict teams performance from one year to the next.
Except for the 14 players that re-signed this year right? The club will be liquidated within a decade. It’s a sporting/cultural wasteland.
Notwithstanding giving them more draft picks isn’t the answer, they lost all there talent once before and nothing’s changed. It’ll be like a farm clearing sale as the Vic teams go through them again in 2 years time. You have to want to be there, and right now nobody goes there by choice.
That was 12 months ago. A lot has changed in 12 months around the club, the lads seem to be happier coming into the job, with all new coaching and welfare staff to boot in the 2nd year of our state of the art facilities over those pathetic de-mountables we were set up with.So the annual great southern migration is a figment of our imagination?
You have to create an environment that people want to be part of and GC have done nothing of the sort. You can’t have multiple club captains just walk away.
The only good thing about GWS and GC is that it makes getting finals tickets if you play them easier.

No, there have been mistakes I will agree there, and we have regretfully lost people we would have liked to keep. But just how I can't ignore the people that have left, detractors can also not ignore the talent we have been able to retain this year through re-signing.
Pretty sure king wants out. Same with Lukosius. Have heard Ainsworth and Fiorini whispersJack Martin?
So the boys from last years draft all going to sign up again?
Don't know you can ask them. Rankine signed up for another 3 years if this time next year they are unsigned I'll panic then.Jack Martin?
So the boys from last years draft all going to sign up again?
Give it a rest you must have 3 screens open with the amount you are around, you hate the Sun's and want us to fold, we get it, use that energy for something else.Pretty sure king wants out. Same with Lukosius. Have heard Ainsworth and Fiorini whispers
Ainsworth only re signed recently for an additional two years, even though he was already contacted for next season.Pretty sure king wants out. Same with Lukosius. Have heard Ainsworth and Fiorini whispers
