Why the hate?Lukosius and king already have their bags packed for next season
I reckon the next step will be Gil working very hard behind the scenes to keep current players there.Lukosius and king already have their bags packed for next season
Most of the discussion ended up in the main DT&FA board. Might merge these two threads once it calms down a bit, but if you're curious about the reaction you can see here: Confirmed Priority Picks for Gold Coast - next 3 yearsBump

AFL make the rules up as they go, basically do what ever they want that suits them.Wow. AFL trying to guarantee them a flag.
This goes to show how corrupt the AFL are. Brisbane and Carlton got nothing like this.
So is the next team that mirrors the GCs finishes on the ladder going to get the same?
FU AFL.
Yep no doudt about it. I do believe they set up coniglio to stay.I reckon the next step will be Gil working very hard behind the scenes to keep current players there.
Because Every other club sufferes. For years we have had compromised drafts. Clubs struggle to bring in elite talent yet the Gold Coast are handed it on a platter. They are being rewarded for Mismanagement. Then cry Wolf when players leave. The amount of Draft Concessions, extra money, Zone Selections your club has had is ridiculous. Not to mention no one really cares for the club. Sorry to say it’s unfairWhy the hate?
All the Suns hierarchy have done is point out how poorly the AFL set up the Suns in the first place. These measures right or wrong are to try and make the club competitive not a powerhouse. There is a massive segment of SEQ that is jaded when it comes to the AFL due to the “ go home factor”, poor set up, sub standard facilities etc
Because they have a year left on their contract and yet to sign on?Lukosius and king already have their bags packed for next season
Essendon have reaped the rewards of the Suns with Saad and GWS as well. An argument could easily be made that it was the AFL that mismanaged the clubBecause Every other club sufferes. It’s widely known king wants out. Lukosius will be offered crazy money to leave as well.Because they have a year left on their contract and yet to sign on?
It’s massive overs.Good call from the AFL to announce a 3 year plan now rather than yearly.
IF gcs become competitive quickly then im sure they'll take the rest of the picks off them. But the reality is it will take 2-3 years minimum for GCS to rebuild and become in any way competitive.
Had to be done and agree with all concessions granted. 1 pick would change nothing when they lost king and lukosious as well next year.
I would be fuming if I was a doggies supporter in 2011, and see my club get one measly first rounder for a gun player like Ward, while Melbourne get 2 for Scully.I would be fuming if I was Melbourne they will miss out on one of Rowell or Anderson
Yep that’s because you go for Richmond. But what about everyone else.No real problem here. There's a debate to be had with regards to "How much is too much?", but something had to be done. Gold Coast's list is in a similar position to what it was in 2010-2011.
They’re already doing that. Suns recognised this as an issue last year and are now putting more into player welfare and development than any other club.Instead of the Afl forcing more kids to go there, how about they put some time and effort into creating an environment where the kids that are already there want to stay and be part of something?? Otherwise wants the point, they can give them the first 10 picks this year and next year but there still gonna want to leave!
Everyone else? Like Melbourne? Who the AFL have been very generous to in the past?Yep that’s because you go for Richmond. But what about everyone else.
Maybe they should of given Tasmania an afl side ?Everyone else? Like Melbourne? Who the AFL have been very generous to in the past?
Maybe everyone else should try relocating to a developing market.
A good opinion someone on the ground at the coast, couldn't agree more. And a slight dig at a few who have come before.
Injuries and depth have always been our issue. Our best 22 is competitive against most teams, but injuries kill us every year. No doubt the latest concessions are aimed at improving our depth.Thought Pick 1 would be enough.
Don't mind the academy protection, expanded rookie list or the zones either.
Pick 19, 9 and 19~ over the next few years is 3x free hits at top 20 talent that can't be taken back.
Suns could field a fairly competitive 22 next year and this may have been for nothing.
Add Ellis, Rowell & Anderson, plus possibly Crouch, and there aren't many holes in the 22.
And what if they trade those future picks away before the afl gets a chance to take them?Good call from the AFL to announce a 3 year plan now rather than yearly.

Good luck..you guys have hit the jackpot and as carlton finished 3rd bottom we were not be in a position to draft anderson luckily as it turns out or otherwise there might have been a riot. It does seem like the presidents and ceo's of the other clubs are not happy and you really would want this massive draft pick jackpot bonanza to work or it could be time to cut the losses..not my words but those of kennet and a few others.Gee wiz, I guess the AFL didn't value the opinion of the the Crows list management team over getting a return on the $20m pa investment that they are sinking into the Suns each year to get them up and running.
Who wouldn't have thought that?![]()
And Andrew Walker may never have worn a hat during trainingTo all those jumping up and down, remember, without overly generous priority picks, Lance Franklin wouldn't have played for Hawthorn and Scott Pendlebury wouldn't have played for Collingwood.
Maybe when the Tasmanian market can be seen without a microscope.Maybe they should of given Tasmania an afl side ?
