USA Supreme Court of America ( SCOTUS) and their extremist right wing agenda.

That's a misleading stat tho. Hillary got off to a good start, but Bernie really exploded as they approached the midway point. But once it was clear that the superdeliates were going to come in over the top, Bernies momentum died. People who would have voted for him either didn't bother to show up, or voted Hillary for the sake of unity. There was a media blitz in the second half of the primaries all saying Hillary had ot won. In a country with voluntary voting, that's fatal.

Without superdelegates, Bernie would have won confortably.
No doubt the DNC absolutely did all they could to get their preferred candidate.

But it is stretching the truth a little too far in my opinion to say that Bernie won without superdelegates, because he was still behind based on the popular vote and pledged delegate count.

Nah, it's not really a stretch at all; Hillary was always in front yes, but only because of her early wins. Sanders had no name recognition in the beginning, but after a few states had an abrupt explosion in popularity. He took all the momentum, and was regularly coming out on top and closing the gap. The only way Clinton regained the momentum was after the super delegates all announced for her. It left Sanders needing to win by impossible margins which successfully switched the narrative to one of unity, and left a large portion of the Democratic base disenfranchised, both in terms of campaigning and also actually voting. There was no way Clinton was coming back on her own merits, as we saw in the election proper. Clinton was a terrible debater, and was one of those personalities where the more you saw her, the less you liked her. (similar to DeSantis in many respects really).

But I would recognize I am probably unlikely to actually change your mind here. The main point I wanted to make was the stats on her lead are not representative of the reality, given the self fulfilling nature of a system like this. Even if someone thinks she could have somehow held on without the superdelegates, it would not have been by anything like those margins.

Clarence you really are a naughty boy

You know what, I was suspicious at first, but the more that comes out the more I think he just must be a really fun guy to be around.

Politico doing some good work:
The scope of the investigation is unclear. But it comes after POLITICO reported in March that one of Leo’s nonprofits — registered as a charity — paid his for-profit company tens of millions of dollars in the two years since he joined the company.

D.C. Attorney General is probing Leonard Leo’s network

The watchdog complaint alleges the total amount of money that flowed from Leo-aligned nonprofits to his for-profit firms was $73 million over six years beginning in 2016.

“There are questions as to whether Leo-affiliated nonprofits have diverted substantial portions of their income and assets, directly or indirectly, to the personal benefit of Leonard Leo,” read the Campaign for Accountability’s complaint.

The news of the investigation comes as the nonprofit that was a subject of the complaint quietly relocated in recent weeks from the capital area to Texas, according to paperwork filed in Virginia and Texas. For nearly 20 years the nonprofit, now known as The 85 Fund, had been incorporated in Virginia.
In discontinuing the group in the state of Virginia, the new address Severino listed is a virtual office suite in Fort Worth, Texas, shared by a “Two Men and a Truck” franchise. The office building advertises virtual and coworking spaces.
Further complicating the picture: in Texas, a new registration for “The 85 Fund” was filed on June 27 under yet a different address in a different city than the one listed on the Virginia paperwork. It is also registered in Texas as a for-profit entity.
This location is a UPS store in a strip mall next door to a restaurant called the “Snooty Pig Cafe.” As POLITICO previously reported, The 85 Fund had been using a UPS drop box in DC’s Georgetown neighborhood as its principal office address. This location is a UPS store in a strip mall next door to a restaurant called the “Snooty Pig Cafe.”
:rolleyesv1:
The 85 Fund’s switch to the Fort Worth office building came days after POLITICO inquired, on June 30, about certain Leo allies who may have personally benefited from millions in anonymous donations that moved through the 85 Fund over the past decade.
A separate Leo-aligned group that appears to have been involved in the 2017 sale of GOP pollster Kellyanne Conway’s company was dissolved last fall, three days after POLITICO inquired about whether it helped to facilitate the multi-million-dollar deal while she was advising Trump on judicial candidates.
There's a lot there. Leo making tens of millions in self-dealing. Texas having fairly slack tax laws.
This is one of the faces of political corruption and dark money that plague society. The consequences of shown in the SCOTUS capture and other right-wing power moves.

Given the corruption is in plain site I thought this must be a comedy piece.
Yeah, love these crusty old dudes who are now confirmed to have taken 78 free ultra luxury holidays or whatever from GOP money men complaining about the scrutiny. Gotta have some kinda mindset to respond with pompous indignation in this situation, Marie Antoinette was more in touch :drunk:

Busted cold and criticism is more than warranted (they shouldn't even be in the job any more).

The Supreme Court’s decision in the 2010 Citizens United case transformed the world of politics. It loosened restrictions on campaign spending and unleashed a flow of anonymous donor money to nonprofit groups run by political activists.

In the months before the ruling dropped in January of that year, a group of conservative activists came together to create just such an organization. Its mission would be to, at the time, block then-President Barack Obama’s pet initiatives.

The activists included Federalist Society leader Leonard Leo and his ideological soulmate, a hard-edged activist named Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

if trump gets up voting rights act is doomed in usa

A panel of judges in a federal appeals court said Monday that only the federal government — not citizens and groups — can sue under a key part of the Voting Rights Act, effectively gutting the legislation in seven states.

The ruling, which applies to Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota, found that only the U.S. attorney general is able to bring a suit under Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

Unbelievable. These people spend literally billions of dollars to what? make sure poor people don't have proper health care, women can't have abortions, poor people can't vote, rich people can buy as many politicians as they want without any accountability and no nasty Liberal agenda like affirmative action.

From the article
The group later made clear its goal was disassembling President Barack Obama’s agenda, mainly the Affordable Care Act.

I will never understand why some rich people feel so called to make it their mission to make life as hard as possible for poor people. Isn't being rich enough?

And she has the gall to sprout vomit like this - Wearing a white T-shirt emblazoned with a Liberty Central logo, Thomas introduced herself as an “ordinary citizen from Omaha, Nebraska” who felt “called to the front lines” of a battle against “arrogant elites” who “think they know how to manage our lives from cradle to grave.”

She spends her whole life trying to * things up for other people and meddle in everything from the judiciary to voting rights to access to health care etc etc and somehow she's having her life ruined by "the elites".

Its just vomit inducing how entitled, selfish and just plain evil these people are.

They’ve been tricked in to believing that anything that helps anyone is ‘communist’ and therefore bad.

Meanwhile the wealthy redirect those tax dollars to themselves or simply get the tax system changed so they pay less tax to begin with.

Ginni Thomas "battling against elites" is one of the funniest things I've ever heard, shows you just how disconnected from reality she is.

Woman is literally married to a SC judge, she's the top 1% of the top 1% :drunk:

Not to mention she's a Qanon nutcase, right into the deepstaters being shipped off to Gitmo etc.

On the podcast ep below they read through her text messages to Mark Meadows that were uncovered by the J6 committee, some of the funniest s**t coming from a well educated elite you will ever hear, she's absolutely fried (starts about 25 mins in)

Arizona’s SC legitimately swinging the election.

Democrats now favourites for the first time.

Religious conservative nutjobs - thanks I guess?
