Grundy great but we didn’t capitalise on his dominance

Roberts and Bice are massive problems in their form, Florent has to come in for one, clearly for the other

Pretty flat for the most part but got going when it needed to be done. Heeney just wow such a naturally gifted footballer.

Wicks and Hamling were pretty much flawless in defence, thought they were great.

Buller solid again too, was able to get front position a handful of times.

Ladhams either starts in the ruck for a Grundy cover or as a tall instead of McLean, served no purpose him or us as sub. Means he didn’t get a full reserves game and no way he will impact as sub.

My only read of it is we assumed we would sub him on for Grundy originally, and that sort of lended to the “arrogant lazyish “ footy we played for 3 quarters , that we just assumed we run away with it

Roberts and Bice in their current form offer less than Florent, time to bring him back, one can be sub maybe, but I’d suggest Roberts has been awful most of the year and needs to go work on the fundamentals, he isn’t even going into contests now, Bice doesn’t read the play and lets his man get off him way too often.

Blakey and Warner probably make the bests in the paper and got their numbers and don’t get me wrong both did good things, but to me both were the standouts of trying to be fancy and cute and felt like the goals north got came from their types of play or often North could capitalise

• So-so first half, poor thirs qtr, very good last qtr. Pretty forgettable game. If finals are real there probably needs to be a percentage booster along the way, a missed chance maybe but ultimately did what we needed to do.
• Heeney put on a show clear best on ground. Grundy good. Warner, Mills solid. Buller showed glimpses, but no forwards were amazing.
• Thought there was a fair bit of lairizing and trying to be too perfect in that third qtr. We get into that mode at times and it always shoots us in the foot. Just keep it simple. As soon as we got some urgency and started doing simple more direct things we killed off the game fairly quickly. It was a game won on talent mainly. So hopefully by coasting they have a bit in the tank for GWS next week.
