A chat with Kizza on SEN:

I enjoyed that interview.

Interesting that Tim Watson picked up on how Longmire participated in hub life and helped made it a positive experience for himself and all others sequestered.
And he also highlighted how other clubs talked badly of the experience.
I feel that hub life has actually made us a better team and club.
It wouldn't have been easy but it seems to have forged a real bond amongst those that participated.

Also really liked that Stuey Maxfield was once again recognised (by KJ) as a real driver of the 'Bloods Culture'.
He's often overlooked when people outside of the club talk about the Culture, but always mentioned by those inside the club.

imo it was a bit easier for us since a lot of the boys would've lived together at one point or another compared to pretty much all other teams. Plus our strong culture and leaders helped.

I feel like I'm going insane with the amount of people tipping Geelong. We match up so well on them. We already beat them this year. It's like it's just everyone's default answer because they've never seen us play.

Sure, they're deserved favourites, but I just can't see a runaway victory for them.

I really hope our players are listening to this favouritism and use it as motivation.
Cats deserve to be absolute favourites. They've been the best team all year and put away the Lions despite them being witches hats.

No disrespect being the underdog here though. I hate to bring it up but we were roaring favourites in '14 and that did not go to plan. Happy for the goals to do the talking

Yep, we wouldn't have Rowbottom without that move - which was a moment of bloody genius.

I can definitely see Chris Scott referencing some of our bigfooty posts in his pre-game address to get the boys fired up.
I have personally sent him a bunch of mine

I just love how the Melbourne media get things out of perspective. On AFL 360 they talked about the Papley push on Moore. But never once mentioned the mark paid to Mihocek, which he dropped. Of the DeGoey diving on the ball that should have been holding in the last minute or Warner being held without it very obviously with only 30 seconds to go. They always favouR the Vic sides. Whately hates, us. He would never pick us in his top 4 until it became obvious we were going to be there. He picked the Pies, for the GF. He continues to whine about Pies losing. You'd think he followed Pies, but he is a, Cats man. Stupid people say stupid things and what if, coulda beens don't count. It is what is that counts.

I know he gets a bit chirpy on the field, but I think he's even better off it.

Well done paps.

My favourite show: If you want to know how Swans & Cats measure up purely via the stats and how that will impact strategy & tactics this is show for you.

Interesting dissection of the stats. From the looks of it they don't want to say how good of a chance sydney has or that they actually stack up better, but the stats that sydney are on top of are the ones crucial during finals footy. Geelong are a 5-4 side when the pressure is up. Geelong want the game on their terms using crisp ball movement. I don't think that's going to happen. The swans just won't let that happen.

I am so excited for this game it is going to be a classic.

Nice. So basically we got them covered in the midfield and pressure. But all they got is clearances. Everything else we're relatively even.

If their pressure is really that bad then we'll cut them apart with our accurate kicking.

Full Buddy presser:

That was pleasing wasn’t it?
To hear him say it wasn’t about the money or playing for another club. It was purely based on family and it was either play for the Swans or retire.

I feel like I never see long interviews with Buddy. That’s the first in a long time. He’s got such a presence on camera and I hope he plays a blinder on the weekend but even if he kicks 1 goal and we win he would have done his job.

I think overall the stats supported Geelong as being favorites - and that's okay.

What it also showed is where they are vulnerable which is pressure. If the pressure rating against them is >190 their record is 5-4. If the pressure rating is < 190 their record is 15-0.

That's a very clear indication of where Sydney can bring things back into our terms. And even then its still going to be a huge battle.

Nick Blakey's lack of influence over the finals series is a concern. And our intercept marking record since round 18 has been bloody awful.

Regarding our intercept marking, or lack thereof, I think it was you and I who were discussing how this seemed to be quite deliberate to try and bring the ball to ground so our crumbers can get and go.

For sure. There was no hiding his genuine love & loyalty for the club.
Hope he stays on in Old Sydney Town after 2025 or whenever he ends up retiring and having some role with us.
Wouldn't expect it though really. Can see him heading off into the sunset al la Plugger and leading a quiet family life away from the spotlight once he can no longer be the greatest showman.

If they double team Papley pass it to the open player. Simple.
The issue is we are pretty even across the team, there is a real dilemma in trying to shut down one player as we have seen different players step up when others are down.

I think we've proven we're no longer a team of champions but a champion team. We've come this far without needing one or two match winning players. We stream across the field as a unit. Good luck tagging or double teaming, because you'll need to do it to the entire team.

Best thing Geelong can do is just try to play their regular game. Our pressure game will be their undoing.

Sorry to be so annoyingly positive in every one of my posts. I'm just really excited and confident about Saturday. 🙂
