Anyone with access to this article, is it Wicks he is referring to as a defensive bolter? Or any extra info on the Campbell move up forward. I'd guess playing more of a small forward role?
Yes, referring to Wicks

"Campbell was a clear standout on Friday with both his decision-making and forward pressure"

Any discussion re: Gus or Cleary in relation to the “battle for midfield minutes”?
I don't think there is a battle between those two for midfield minutes.

In Cleary's case I think it is forward line or bust for him for the foreseeable future. (Not that that's a disgrace - he is only 19.)

Not really.

As confirmed by Cox, last year's main 3 plus Mills locked in.
Although Mills apparently on managed minutes today.

Adams, Gus & Cleary were all name checked as getting midfield minutes for the second team, but it was Jordon who was highlighted as 'strong through the midfield on Friday for the reserves side and was definitely one of the best on ground, linking up nicely with his teammates by hand and foot.'

I've mentioned before when he joined us Jordon was praised by Longmire for his midfield craft in the pre-season.
During the season he got pigeon-holed as a tagger.
I think he offers more and when it comes to best 22 discussions he seems, to a degree, to have become the forgotten man.
It would not surprise me in the least to see him line up in RD 0.

One last thing on Sheldrick, McKirdy (possibly) said he thought Gus did the World's worst ever impersonation of Marcel Marceau;

Goodes is the only Swans player picked...in his Swans gear. Buddy wears a Hawks guernsey🤮

I'd guess because buddy was more influential for more of his time at hawthorn.

I actually think it’s fair enough - I’m struggling to think of another Swan that truly belongs in that team.

And Buddy’s best years (flags) were at Hawthorn.

I'd take JPK over Neale for a start and I know he has two brownlows.

Yep.. Wicks has the pace and aggression to be an excellent small lockdown defender, but agree with you that theres questions over discipline and defensive skills. Id also have questions about his decision making. He seems to rush his decisions rather than be cool, calm and collected.
Yes in that position you often need to make very quick decisions, but they need to be the correct one (even if that means a 40m snap to the 50m boundary )
Harry, Rampe, Mills and Melly have been doing it for years yet they still kick in panic. Melly less so. You need a cool head to play back there and I don't think that has been taught at the Swans in a long time.
