Our intensity was there, but our skill and poise under pressure wasn't. I can't count how many times we butchered it coming out of defence, or across half forward. And we fumbled more often than a freshman trying to open his new squeeze's girdle.

It really shows how far off the top 3 we are. We're a decent team who (usually) give our all, but our lack of class across the park has been exposed again.

Grats to the Hawks, far better on the day.

slipping

if we lose 2 the blues

kiss top four and finals goodbye

Collingwood are gonna snatch our spot

Seriously the side needs a change

our older guys need a break bring in the younger guys i would seriously prefer to lose another game with younger kids having a go and trying making a difference than losing a game with older players

Pick it up Paul Roos for once i want to see you scream at the players your getting just a little to calm

Well Done Hawks finally split the wood

Skills skills skills, our skills just crumbles under any sort of decent pressure. The signs were there against Melbourne, but they weren't good enough to capitalise. Collingwood and Hawthorn have turned it up a notch and we've turned over plenty of ball against both of them.

Posted it on the other thread

Our general kicking has been shocking. We need to work on our skills. No doubt the effort was there and we did see some glimpses where the Swans were on attack and moved the ball quickly to the forwards. At times there are some who just stay stagnant with the ball once we get the momentum going. Leave MOL and his opponent at the goal square because, again, today we saw one play where we got the ball from the turnover but all the players were in defensive 50 and our forward 50 was empty! We had the ball going forward, nice free flowing and yet when McVeigh looks up, THERE IS NO ONE TO KICK TO!!!!!!

These players should not play next week:

Buchanan - Had a chance to redeem his crappy form. Should have kicked atleast 4 goals. Will be suspended anyway.

J. Moore - Took one good mark in the opening minutes and was basically silent for the rest. Has no confidence.

Spider - He's done. Keep him in a coaching role for the rest of the season. Bring in Currie.

Nick Smith - Still didn't show enough for me. Give another kid a go.

I thought our best players today were:

Goodes - Quietish first half, but great second half. Got some shocking delivery. Everyone just likes to put it on his head for the opposition to spoil.

Kirk - Legend.

Bevan - Thought he had a great game. Sure, Crawford was injured, but Bevo was everywhere.

Jolly - Loved his work today. Seemed really fired up.

Honourable mentions: Richards, Bird, Barry (best game all year, I thought), Bolts.

Might have forgotten someone.

This is what I fear. Swans, only lately, have been woeful at hitting our targets when under pressure. Skills are atrocious. Of course the obvious examples are mentioned but another one would be the first half against WCE.

We were down by 30 points (or more) because of the Eagles' relentless tackling and manning-up. Providing no free option for us when we get a quick clearance from a stoppage.

On another note on today's game. There was a lack of talk, support and communication among the players. How many times were we pinged for holding the ball? No talk among the players and no support from each other.

After every loss we all want to think of reasons as to what went wrong, who lost us the match, who should have been picked and who should have been dropped etc etc, but I think we really should just come to terms with the fact that we just arn't that good.

.

disagree with that. He missed about 2 or 3 chances, but EVERYONE in the AFL has been atrocious in front of goals.

Yeah, I thought Buchanan was alright. He was tackling in the 50 and even though he missed all those shots he still kept presenting himself.

Agreed. I would've butchered him if he had a shocker today. Potential trade bait. Don't know why he played in the forward 50 though, suited him better if he was in and under midfielder, perhaps carrying an injury?

i agree with almost every word
i thought jude was good again, and not sure about leo's "best game"
and bevan was among our best, very true, he's been real good this year

but i certainly agree on buchanan, spida and young smith, i thought mattner was ordinary today and i thought mcveigh and ablett offered very little
mcveigh went missing, like the bad old days, and ablett just doesn't use the ball very well

oh, and i thought playfair was okay, at least he offered a marking target and took some marks
and kicked no worse than the rest

sighhhhhhhhhhh

No1 was at half time and then at final siren... was I hope Tedeski's son won handsomely and demanded supersized Macca's with double desert !!!:D

No2... can't wait to hear Skip's positive spin!:thumbsu:

No 3... Doesn't the pope have any respect!!!!!!!

then

-Beaten by a better balanced, younger, fresher team

- If Currie is not ready then bring in White or Grundy drop Spida back to play with Currie & O'real etc until his legs finally cease up

- Buchanan played OK... and nothin in that bump!

- Kennelly owes Sydney nothing but I hope we get 1 more year out of him before he goes home to play Girlic

- Playfair is by no means the worst and at least he has a go!... shmae BBBH!

KIRK -deserves a statue at SCG:thumbsu:

well done and good luck Hawks but they are at least another year away from the big one!

to be honest, I'm more mad at Channel 7. They interrupted the coverage with the news of the pope's arrival. If that's BREAKING NEWS, then they must have monkeys running their organisation.

If he goes for that then he should give it up immediately .Pity he's a bit on the small side,he could get a game with the Swifts.

how hard is it for someone to yell

"watch your back step to the left"

It was so sick to watch our plays get run down

one bit of play i did enjoy was our hand balling through the middle but you cant win a game on hand balls

It gets worse!

Next week, if Sydneysiders don't have Foxtel, they'll have to watch it DELAYED at 3pm. It's because of the V8s, the petrol guzzling sport.:mad::mad::mad:

What next? Breaking news of the pope going home?!

Are you serious!?

I hate watching delayed games, I can't help but to follow the live scores and the watching the delayed telecast isn't as fun. Might have to find a pub that will show the AFL over the league.

Hawthorn were the better team today, no doubt. The biggest positive is that there is plenty of improvement left without having to change the team. Set shots on goal, kicking to the first option instead of waiting to be tackled, standing in the goalsquare when a teammate is having a shot, slowing the game down when the other team is on a roll, staying on your feet ...

will it be delayed? Or will C7 just show what's left of the match?

Good question. The TV guide says it's from 3-5pm so I'm guessing maybe a mixture of both?
