With both sides copping a flogging on the weekend this practice match will be a cracker. Both sides will have more than a few players with a point to prove.

A quote from Roos about last weekend
"Obviously there were players today that showed they were not capable of playing at that level." Sydney Morning Herald 23 Feb 04.

One would suspect the same could be said of a few of the Collingwood boys.

Who will win?

Feel kinda dirty saying this, but probably Collingwood.

Even if half our players who were out yesterday make the trip, we'll still have an undermanned line-up. C'wood, on the other hand, played most of their senior side on Saturday night, and will probably do something similar.

The Swans seem to be putting a lot of players in cotton-wool. I don't expect Ball, Hall, Davis, Kennelly, Doyle, O'Loughlin to play. James won't play. Fixter won't play. Powell, Crouch, Barry and Mathews are all trying to get over niggling injuries, and think they'll be rested for another week. No sense at all in pushing them for a meaningless game. Goodes and Schauble are, I suppose, potential candidates for a break, but it depends on how many of the others are ready to come in.

Possible squad, off the top of my head only...
McVeigh
O'Keefe
C.Bolton
Willoughby
Williams
Maxfield
Fosdike
Schneider
Ablett
Saddington
J.Bolton
Schauble
Dempster
Roberts-Thomson
Kirk
Buchanan
Hunt
Sundqvist
Schmidt
Goodes
McGlone
Bevan
Meiklejohn
M.Davis
Rogers
Potter

That's assuming that the club isn't looking to take any risks. That's a more or less unchanged line-up from this week, but I'm confident that the senior list players will be given an extra week to get fit before playing the last two practice matches.

Game of the year...no doubt about it. Both sides coming off some great form and should be a close one. I can't wait;)

Swans midfield lacked pace without the speed of their midfield carrying the ball deep into the forward line for their kickers to take over - they were no chance from the start.

No rugby style and Swans cant win.

The young players lack of enthusiasm for the chance to show their best also doesnt say much for Roos' confidence in them.

Yawn!!!

Who in a right state of mind would put themselves through 2.5 hours of this?... I'll check the result here in the a.m.

Scoreline Prediction:

Sydney 0.3.1.6 27 Colliwaobbles 0.2.0.9 15

A Classic.

:D :D :D :D :D

seriously though there will be half a dozen guys on both sides who could have their carriers set back by another poor show. I wouldn't expect it to be high scoring or silky, but i do expect there to be a tough slugfest.

Hey? How'd you come to that conclusion?

Just for a start, we were missing, Tarrant, Presti, Licuria, Ben Johnson, Shane Woewodin etc. We had six players who had never played in the senior side, plus a couple of others who have only played a few Wizard Cup games before.

Ok, but we had 8 players who have never played a senior game (unless you count McVeigh and perhaps Dempster and Hunt playing one or two Wizard Cup games, which I don't), another 5 who had played less than ten AFL games and Ben Fixter, who hadn't played in 18 months. Of the remaining ten, another two have played less than 25 games (as has Fixter). Bolton has played only 53. We had a reserves side out there.

Out of your 24, you had 16 or 17 regular senior players. That would seem like a majority to me.

2 things are apparent after these 2 teams copped hidings on the weekend.

1. Quote from Denis Pagan "It's very hard at this early stage to get too carried away with things, Sydney were obviously on a different agenda to us."

2. Eddies commentary box behaviour.

It is obvious one team didnt give a rats about the Wizard Cup and one team did care.

BTW. I voted for Collingwood in the poll for the above obvious reasons.

A chance to see the Pies at Vic. Park? Count me in even if it is practice match.
All we need is for the Swans to wear the red V guernsey and we'll be back to traditional values!
That of course together with ice-cold pies, warm VB cans and all-in brawl in the outer at half time.

A pre game kick at the Yarra Falls end, some donuts during the ressies and a smack in the head with a brolly from an old duck who won't tolerate swearing at Barry Round, I mean Adam Goodes.

Collingwood will experience their first every subi-hangover.
Welcome to the AFL my woolley friends.

Of course this implies Collingwood have never played in Perth before, which of course only someone with short term memory loss would say.

I only wish Collingwood had 12 home ground advantage games like Sydney do.

Talk about unlevel playing field.

AFL? At least the Pies have won a flag under that banner, on the other hand the Sydney Swans SMFC-DCKHDS have only won hand outs under it and attention from Nurse Palm aka the AFL. :D:D:D

Soo long ago it slipped my memory. Did the subi-curse exist back in them times?

Why would you want to lose your other 6 home games ?

Come on gayham, you should know by now that all of your home games are actually home ground advantage. Whereas, the minority of Collingwood games in Melbourne are nuetral games, ie. versus another Vic team that plays at the same venues, week in, week out.

c'mon Joel - you've been here a while. You don't reason with it. 2 choices - ignore it or savage it
