Goodes will fire, Baz will fire, TK will get his spring back, Leo will pick up 5km an hr, Kirk will inspire, LRT will be solid, MO will play like a 25 year old, ROK will work like a trojan, jack and Moore will run and run and run, everyone else will pick up their game 40% and Roos will coach from the box. We will then smash Geelong, have a resurgence of Bloods spirit, re claim our Magpie dominance and smash Brisbane in the last round, and go on to claim the ultimate prize for the second time in 4 years. I feel better now.

they better win...otherwise a wasted season

I doubt you can say a wasted season. with all the youngsters that have come in and the improved performances of players i think it has been a productive year.

I personally dont think the Swans need a rebuild but rather a regeneration. We have young guys ready and waiting with the likes of Veszpremi, Schmidt, Smith, O'Dwyer, Grundy, Brennan and Brabazon. All have played atleast 1 game and all have shown that they can play good football. Also we have to remember Laidlaw who is talented but is curently injured.

Then we have to remember young players who have not yet played a game yet but have shown alot of promise like Currie, Faulks, Murphy and Thornton who will be ready for AFL football next year.

Apart from our forwards (Hall and O'Loughlin) we have replacements for all our aging stars.

It is 50/50 at the moment.

I admire your optimisim Swanny and Im also pretty confident about this weekends game BUT until I see us match it with one of the big teams I'm not going to get my hopes up too much. We've looked to be in great form a few times this season only to completely unravel as soon as we come up against a side in the top 6.

Quite possibly the most positive thing you have ever posted!

I can only hope that you are correct!

had an arguement with my brother today, this season i wasnt suprised or going to be phased if we dropped off and i was hoping for a top 5 draft pick, but it wasnt to be. he said to me this morning goodes barry should be rested and the team wasnt in form and we shouldnt worry about finals.

i went on to tell him we are currently 4th and can hold the position and you have to be in it to win it. if we can hit some form the next 4 rounds we can do some damage in the finals, u cant ride off sydney they are experienced and have been in it before, and with a bit of youth and enthusiasm anything is possible. im sure mcveigh missing out on the granny he will give his all.

I don't think the Swans are capable of winning this year. Even if they play their best footy over the next two months, I think the best of Geelong - certainly - and maybe the Hawks and Dogs is better.

But I do agree with you about playing to finish as high as we are capable of. One or two games of finals experience for Jack, Moore, Bird and Vez is worth far more than a shift up the draft order of a few spots, even if we lose both finals. And if we can get the likes of Goodes and O'Loughlin back reasonably fit, winning at least a semi isn't beyond us if we manage to finish 4th and get the home game.

Unless you're going to be really crap and be in the market for a Rich, Watts or Natanui, a few spots in the draft is highly over-rated. I suspect the Swans would have taken Vez last year if they'd had pick 7 or 8. And maybe they'd still have got him with pick 14 or 15.

i suspect we will recruit a key position foward, and their are lots of them in the top 20. so finishing high wont be top much of a disadvantage as their is lots of depth.
hope cornelious from tazzie drops to us at about pick 12-16, otherwise vickery wouldnt be to bad.

I had the same dream, but when i woke up i was along for the ride to see how
far we go this season. It would be great to have a convincing win over Freo.
Which would stop the Roos from getting 4th spot. And also give us some confidence going into our game against Geelong.
