Now Essendon and West Coast have had some great contests over the years, with a lot of spirit and often a fair dose of spite. The Bombers hate the Eagles (probably less now Rintoul and White have left ) and the Eagles hate the Bombers (Windy Hill should be ploughed with salt ). And that's the way it should be.

All that aside, it was great to see Sheedy and the Essendon players stay out and pay tribute to Dean Kemp after the game tonight. Many of the Bombers supporters (and there were a lot, there always is at Perth games) stayed on as well. Thanks guys.

I came here to say exactly the same thing as carneagles - beaten to the punch again.

I thought it was terrific (no, I'm not Robert Walls) that the Essendon players and staff stayed on the oval to participate in the Dean Kemp tribute.

And I thought the many Bombers fans at the City End mostly stayed and were very good about it.

So - thank you very much for your good sportsmanship and well played in the game itself, where you played like a very good team game all over the park. We were duly thrashed.

Nah seriously....Dean Kemp was a champion and a great servent for the West Coast Eagles. It's a shame he has gone out the way he has, but then he had to look after him long-term health.

I really go hope the Eagles get back to being a power again some time soon. Essendon/West Coast games of the past have always been classics...and i'm sure those days will return. But you must get rid of that coach of yours. I know you've had injuries...but he just don't cut the mustard. I'm sure you know that though.

Yea, well done Bombers for staying out and congratulating Kempy.

I also enjoyed the proffessional display of a great team on the night. Disciplined and decisive play. Lloyd is such a great mark and kick and Hird is all class. I wont go on with the other 19 (my wife wont let me mention Barnard because she feels he is a dirty %&*$ ) but there is not much weakness.

Yeah, you're right, I do hate Essendon. I was just trying to be sportsmanlike. The Kempy thing temporarily altered my state of consciousness, but I think I'm all right again now.

Go Brisbane! Go any interstate team! Go a team like Melbourne last year who can be sentimental favourites, especially after years of underachievement!

Unfortunately I can't think of one that fits these categories. The Fitzroy Bears maybe?

Hey im all with you guys in the thanking for the Kempy tribute and all that but i hope you lose in straight sets. Its no secret i hate Essendon, i hate all victorian clubs. DIE!!!

Well I will be barracking for Brissie, but if they go out I'll support Essendon, as I have the last two final series, purely because they deserve it.
Is that such a bad thing?
