Frost gone, Marsh gone. If Brown joins them and does leave, then you think this year our defence was horrible? Wait until next year when it will reach new heights. You need a gorilla down back to nullify the oppositions talls.

the way the game is going, you only need one gorilla back on your list. And they don't have to be that good.
Hawthorn have managed to do reasonably well with only Lake (Sept only) and Spangher.

Ditto the Swans with Grundy.

the is that while not ideal, the loss of KPDs may force the coaches to come up with a better backline strategy - much like the Eagles successfully did in 2015

Yeah. The game has changed. Much more mobile. The bulldogs this year where undersized front and back and won the flag.

You were talking us up as premiership contenders a few days ago if we signed wells mayne rockliff

There is absolutely no way this ever happened...

Will be interesting to see if we bring in additional ready-made defenders before the end of the trading period.
We will potentially regain Keeffe (although who knows how he will go after being out of the game for some time), but may also lose Marsh, Brown and Frost.

If we dont lose Brown then we havent lost much after getting Keeffe back. Theres no interest in Marsh from the WA clubs either so we may also keep him...although the risk is he is lost to the game completely.

So far we have only lost Frost who shouldnt be in the same 22 as Brown anyway so was really only depth for that one position. As other have suggested White did spend some time in defence and while its not a preferred option hes probably just as good a backup as Frost was.

Apart from big Boyd who was crucial up forward as a tall marking presence who possibly won them the game.

However it helps when their running backs are more superior than ours and can hit targets. Not to mention being a well drilled team, whereas ours were playing a zonal defence pointing fingers at each other.

We are so f@#*!
With Brown now gone will be lucky not to concede at least 100 points every game.

Brown is not a major loss.

Offered nothing offensively, no run, no rebound, hardly ever intercept marked. He could only really spoil non leading forwards and kick either long bombs or chip sideways/backwards. He was solid for what he did though, and will always be remembered as the guy that stopped Reiwoldt!

Maybe not on his own but add frost and marsh to the list in a position we were already short and it's absolutely a huge deal!

Well I'm glad I started this thread last year it didn't seem as bad back then and I thought it was terrible. We are a mess of a club.

My guess is Gubby Allan is not too fussed about the fact our backline will struggle. He is gutting a list he doesn't rate and probably trying to engineer some early picks for next year's draft.

The problem is we're gutting it with nothing decent coming back in.... Place is obviously FUBAR
