Sabre, this is the saddest part in the affair, no doubt. I think I'll be watching something else.

The worst part about all this other than he didnt get more weeks is that fact that eddie is now going to devote half the show to the tarrant incident, this coming thursday.

-Tarrant has never been suspended for.

Fair enough. But it has to start somewhere...you cant use the 'he has never been suspended before' thing forever...otherwise noone would ever get suspended

-No video footage

Its a fair point. NOONE knows what happened. Rohan, you are assuming Tarrant is the innocent party here. For all you know, Tarrant could of kinghit Graham.

-Mark Graham was not concussed and said there was nothing in it.

So what if he said nothing was in it. Everyone says there was nothing in it. I bet Peter Caven said to the tribunal there was nothing in it when Lockett broke his face. Why should Mark Graham be believed when everyone knows there is the secret players code of not dobbing in players??

hmmm - Rocca gives evidence, then on the video at the time of the incident is seen watching the ball, which was 40 metres away.

You just cant trust the players.

I didnt see it - so I cant comment on it. Unless anybody clearly saw it, I dont think they are fit to comment either.

All i've got to say is that i don't see what's to gain from suspending a player for an incident that:

a) the public never saw
b) the players say there was nothing in it, and
c) to come to a verdict, is totally reliant on what the umpire thinks he saw.

What is to gain?

I believe the other players opinions on any tribunal incident should never be ignored. They are the ones playing the game - they are the ones in the best position to judge whether there was something in it.

The only time they should be ignored is if video evidence suggests otherwise.

But suspending a guy for 2 weeks purely on the "evidence" of the umpires word is ridiculous. Especially when the opposition players say there was nothing in it.

Too many players these days are being suspended/fined for trivial bullshhit little reasons.

Averaged under 4 goals a game. Very ordinary. We should of got Plugger back in 1995.

Considering you saw the whole Rohan, maybe you should break your silence and tell us what happened

Just like Rocca, who gave evidence then the video showed he wasnt even looking at the incident?

Like Hay who said "there was nothing in it" then later admitted to watching the ball and didnt actually see the incident.

Read the report.

b)well there's a surprise. The players really never saw anything? Not even Puffing Billy Rocca?

IF THEY CONSIDERED MCLOEDS PAST HISTORY, THEY SHOULD CONSIDER TARRANTS!!

Mcleod's won two Norm Smith Medals and his clubs B&F, played 150 games.

How many games has Tarrant played? How many Norm Smiths has he won? B&F's?

Comparable? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Norm Smith doesnt mean you are a fairer player. Afterall Rhys Jones won one.

If you are going to fish, get you're facts right.

So will Rocca be fined for lying ?
I think Ross Smith is still the only player ever fined over his evidence at a tribunal hearing.

No. Why ask me that when i stated that the players statements should be ignored if "video evidence suggests otherwise"?

Like Hay who said "there was nothing in it" then later admitted to watching the ball and didnt actually see the incident.

No.

To combat that, they should make sure that players are 100% sure of what they are saying in their statements, and if video evidence pops up that showed they were lying, then give them a week.

Perhaps players would be more wary when it comes to making statements like the ones you mentioned above, but at least we'd be more likely to see an end to decisions like these, which are based on the what the umpire thinks he saw, and nothing else.

What if the umpire was wrong?

They've been known to be wrong occasionally......

its clearly a conspiracy against collingwood... i think the AFL is trying to pay eddie back for his verbal stoush against the AFL.
