We have an abundance of slow or small weak no-contested-mark midfielders (a very small amount of players excepted). A small amount of these midfielders can kick a goal.

We have hardly any forwards that cant take a contested mark. We have hardly any forwards that are talented in kicking actual goals. We have hardly any forwards full stop.

We have a press that requires a lot of running to set up and then to release to kick a goal. The slower midfielders get caught out. The ones that cant take a contested mark don't get the ball kicked them. It ends up in the hands of the opposition spare man.

Regarding the opposition today, the majority of them are decent height, strong or quick all around the ground. I reckon you could put the Weags backline in the middle against us and they'd trounce us still. I reckon you could put the Weags backline in the forward line for us and probably do better than our forwards.

Something is massively wrong. Is it the coach not adapting a plan for our type of players? The selectors for selecting/non selecting of certain players? The recruiters for not getting the balance right for our team? Our players for not being aggressive/strong enough in the contest?

As good as you can possibly do the press, it wont hold up in September if the players are pea hearts and just not strong enough to put it together on the counter attack.

Do we wait for the season to be over until we play our fringe players, and what about Lower/Walters? Cant believe that JVB/Crichton are getting a crack over those two.

Lower and Morabito would help the size problems in the middle.

So would Suban if he wasn't a fat shit.

Funny to think that our backline looks so soft without McPhee in there:eek:

The weak as piss list out of today:

Broughton
Duffield
Mundy
Hill
Mzungu
Barlow

Big problem when some of our most celebrated players are on that list.

Some others just aren't up to AFL.

Ross said as much in his post match that the back six was disproportionate in size and speed. Sounds like an Ibbo type will be back and hopefully Silvagni or Luke Mac to go forward.

Ive been a big fan of Richmonds midfield since 2 years ago and think they have a great mix.

Cotchin - good skills, gut running, hard in an under, ball magnet.
Martin - can do the hard in an under, great skills , strength to shrug tackles and speed to break away.
Tuck - Hard in an under run with player, not a pure tagger
Then they have guys like Delidio, Foley, Edwards etc etc that run through there at times.
There midfielders are also very dangerous when pushed forward to rest.

Who is our Cotchin???
Who is our Martin??? Closest would prob be Morabito but not yet.
Who is our Tuck???

We need to get Crowley out an replace with DeBoer.
He can tag but can also go hard to win ball before opponent when its there to be won.
Also has fairly good hands to dish it out to others.

We can only have 1 of Barlow and Mundy in there at a time.
Both are too slow and too much alike in how they get the ball.

Our midfield mix is nothing like most other half decent midfields in the comp.

Ibbo doesnt have the awareness to be the guy setting up attacks from backline.
Needs to be a midfielder/winger or nothing.
Suban has no athletic abilities to be able to defend.
Needs to be an in an under ball magnet type or nothing.

Ballantyne still trys to bite off more than he can chew in midfield and turns it over, like Medhurst in his early days.
Until he gets more games into him and becomes smarter with his decisions, needs to be a small forward 80% midfield 20%.

We need real forwards playing forward.

To be fair, Cotchin and Martin are picks 2 & 3. You would hope you can get players of that ability at those picks, and only two other clubs had a chance at them.

Hill is our highest pick over the journey and he is not in that class. It is a big problem.

Lower will add a lot in the middle, the problem will be that so much will be reliant on him that he'll tire easily and probably get injured.

I'd have Hill and Suban off the back line to provide big kicks and drive.

B: Johnson Dawson McPhee
HB: Hill McPharlin Suban
C: Mzungu Mundy Pearce
HF: Mayne Pavlich Neale
F: Ballas Silvagni Clarke
R: Sandilands Barlow Lower
Int: DeBoer Crowley Broughton
Sub: Crozier/Sheridan/Sutcliffe/Morabito

Adios Duffman and don't come back Ibbo.

He can be. On talent alone, he's got as much if not more that those two. The problem is how to get him to reach his potential. I guess, that's been the problem for us since inception.

As Sman mentioned, I'm also wondering why Deboer is not in the midfield. Seriously, he's an inside mid and was recruited as one. His kicking is iffy but his handballs are pretty good and he's a hungry competitor, just what you need in the inside mid. I think he can be as good as Priddis and he's better tackler than him too.

Yep, I agree and so does Lyon as he mentioned bringing DeBoer and Mayne into the midfield.

Team balance needs no filler, all thriller.

Unless you rip like a 9th level boss, GTFO of our side...

De Boer, Mayne are locked in for me, fgt Duffield needs a bullet in the head, along with the next in line passive bitch player.

Minimum prerequisite in our side for me is sloppy skill less grunts (de Boer, Mayne) who will crunch bones and put pressure on like Cooky did.

>= Cooky or GTFO.

Every club in the league has more heart than we do. Piss weak.

I like it. Would tweak it a little and have Mzungu on the bench Hill on the wing and Broughton on HB with the axe hanging over Crowley and Mzungu's head for some youth but yeah very similar to how I feel.

Trade Ibbo at the end of the year and I can't ****ing believe Duffield is contracted til the end of 2014.

Give Walters a crack to increase any trade value he might have or see if he's worth keeping.
