This will be my general structure.

Hartlett, Treloar, Heeney and Roughead will be assessed against other players in the same price range.

Sandilands will need to prove himself fit and firing; latest calf injury made me trade him out of my team.
Ryder is the R2 I can afford.

Ruck/fwd structure is weird, but will resolve itself throughout the season.

18k left over, liking the look of this set up for now.

Not digging the backline this year, a lot of just good solid picks, nothing really screaming out at me. Laird is the only one that's made every version, has ranged from D1-D3
Simpson was scoring tonnes regardless of who he played last year, Bolton's game plan saw him score more prolifically and remarkably durable + POD. Could be Docherty but with only one premo year behind him, and a tendency to score better against the better sides has made Simpson the better option IMO considering Blues have a pretty cushy draw pre-byes.
Monty is another gun with a great history, will back him to get off to a flyer. Have always had a soft spot for the Saints, having Monty gives me even more of a reason to watch them from time to time.

Gonna go in with a strong midfield from round 1, which everyone seems to be going with this year. No room for midpricers, 5 rookies should be enough for good cash generation.
Think all 6 starting premos are capable of 115 or greater averages and viable captain options.

Gawndilands, Gawn is a step ahead of all other rucks imo and Sandi is just too good of a value pick to pass up.

Dahl and Macrae are two of the safest picks you can make IMO, think Macrae will be #1 at the end of the year and hopefully by then people can start spelling his name right...
I'll be going with Ryder regardless of who I take in the rucks, just think he's a great pick, will score well as long as Ken never allows Lobbe to play another AFL game.

Rookies are placeholders but chucked in some of the more expensive ones, hopefully they'll be able to be downgraded when round 1 finally gets here!

Unsurprisingly, it's solid AF, not much that can criticise. Any concern with taking 2 30+ guys at D1 and D2? Both are super durable so I'm not saying there should be, just asking if you have any.

The only thing I can see potentially messing with your structure might be if not enough viable rooks present themselves both forward and back. Asking for 5 in each line, 3 to play each week is quite a big ask. If it eventuates that viable rooks don't present forward and back, then does your stance on not taking any of the under-priced (potentially) premo mids change? Is that where you will look to first to recoup some coin?

6K doesn't leave much room for corrective trading... would consider switching one of Rocky/Robbie to a proven-but-discounted star like Murph, will leave you room to pay up from Goldy to Gawn and still leave money for later improvements.

Going from McGrath to Scharenberg frees up an extra 50k. Depends which rookies line up in round 1

Where does it go? One of my mids>Pendles?

Down back or up forward?

Liking my structure: 3-3, 6-2, 2-0, 3-3

Could almost get another premo in the mids if I go McCluggage out, mid rook to forward rook, premo in

EDIT: I should probably get off SC at work but its too much fun...

Wouldn't be worried about Simpson or Monty very much, Monty went missing a few times last year but would usually bang out a hundred+ a week or two later, I was waiting on Simpson to have his annual stinker that he'd always have when I owned him in years prior, (2014 he killed me 32 in rnd14 and and a 24 in rnd22) and it just never came, imo have less risk than all the defs around that price seem to have.
Adams game count. Laird having the sussest "toe" injury of all time, JJ has a small premium sample space and Rancey is a full back which has always put me off picking him in SC (will probably upgrade to him this year because of that sweet, sweet round 12 bye).

I'm not against midpricers, I just didn't have room for one in that mock up, I'd love to pick Beamer but just can't trust him to play 15+ games, he was originally in that team but when I had a stack of cash left over at the end of it I turned him into Mitchell who I think I'd be more likely to get 22 games out of. I'm also fond of Hartlett, Vlastuin and Acres as midprice picks.

This is it. Loving this team. See you all an hour before lockout. Peace.

Shaw and KOTD Rance play every game. Proven. Locked.
Laird best of the rest and still young, will only get better.
Keeffe Newman and Stewart should all feature round 1 or soon afterwards.
Ryan and Long look likely ATM.

Danger lockfield
Dependlebury
Hanners gun, POD, plays every game even if he's missing important body parts, proven
Jelwood. SC gun for years now. Proven. Danger their to help. Averaged 115 with no preseason. Geelong have no one to take points away from him other than Danger. CD will continue to smooch these guys all day and during scaling
Fyfe, too cheap to ignore, can go 125+, Sandi hopefully back in time to shove em down his throat
SPS, great early bye, ready to go, plays like a man and has an outside game, will line up round 1
SPP, see above, disposal not as good but plenty of opportunity at Port
Myers, just gotta have him at his price. Could go 70, could go 85-90
Freeman, Bolton, Graham, not sure on Bolton, may move him to Pickett if he plays and bring in a FWD rookie etc, too early to tell on bottom of the barrell MIDS, might play early might not

Gawn, just gotta lock him in with rucks the way they are looking to pan out. Fear the Beard is a phrase coined futuristically by those in SC who don't have him
Ryder, like him as a pick because of his price, age and he's proven to go 90+ If he's the sole ruck at Port he should do well. Plan to move him FWD and grab the 2nd best ruck around the byes
Strnadica is a loopy campaigner

NRoo, love the man, Believe the saints will do even better this year and win a handful more, possibly top 8. Plays a lot of games at Etihad where he scores well. A little worries about him and his age but if he does what he does till the byes I'll sideways him if need be
Dahl, lock, gun, gets ball, kicks goals, plays in a top 4 team, runs all day, has nice hair
Macrae, gun, had averaged better before and had a bit of a down year playing more forward even though he only kicked 1 goal his numbers were down. Think he's still good for a 95 but reckon he could easily come out and average 100-105
Roughie, great to have him back, might be a KPF but he's a most middiest, roaming KPF and with Vickery there to play out of the goal square you know he gets let off the lease. Too cheap to pass up if fit and is looking the goods to play after being made captain.
Bowes, will get games early and should score well enough
Pickett, No idea if he will play early or not, good chance he gets turned into someone who is
Rioli, token West COast player, If I was Simmo I'd play him round 1. He will kick 2 or 3 and stay in the side for the next 150 games
Eddy, seen him play in SANFL, better than Schultz so he will take his spot. Should play round 1.

Now I need a beer.

As we speak one is on an AFL list the other is not.
Schulz: 194 games, 333 goals
Eddy, 0 games, 0 goals

Schulz is 33 and Eddy is 27. Eddy's body is fine, Schulz is cooked.

your argument is invalid.
Big Jay had a bad back didn't he
bad everything. i would go and find all the injuries he had, but cbf currently

I wasn't arguing just stating facts.

Eddy would be very lucky to ever be as good as dead eye Shultz. I was more or less just pointing out that he's a similar player and a perfect replacement to take his spot. Ken would be crazy to play him in the 2's

worded it very badly then.

correct, unless his name was Butcher, then he wouldnt play even if he was the last fit player on our list....

anyway, here is what i have at the moment. It changes every 5 minutes.

Not bad. KK the only real risk. Don't like him as a starting player.
Williams could easily end up a top 10 in DEF.
Titchell I'm warming to more and more but would have to move on Hanners or Jelwood to fit him in and I can't see that happening.
