Re: Blues include three

I wouldn't be so quick to drop Hampson. He has a very big future for us. But if he really needs a break, I'd pick Browne. - A quality youngster that we should look to fast-track. Austin deserves a game so bad it's ridiculous, but how do you squeeze him in with O'hAilpin, Jamison, Waite, and Thornton all in the backline?

Good post.

The 3 ruckmen are working well together and given they are our future I say leave them, ie its not as if they're 3 mature ruckman and a youngstar is being held back.

I agree, it gives us depth on the field *if* he gets game time. That said, I'd love to see Austin get a gig, but who to drop to provide the opportunity is a big call. The next two weeks is a great opportunity to blood some new guys with us playing arguably very beatable sides.

it would be good to see Austin get a game, but still don't think there is room for him this week. Any injury to a backline player and he's a sure thing.

Can anyone confirm that Grigg is a certainty to play this wkend, i.e. how'd he look at training during the week? If he has a broken rib he'd be pretty doubtful, (due to risk of getting a collapsed lung), but if it was just bruised he'd get a jab and probs be fine.

Final Team

Out: Hampson
In: Browne

Can certainly understand why, but I still think it would be good just to pump as many games into Hampson as possible. Haven't heard much about how Grigg has pulled up either...

Cheers, Doza. Hope Hammer carves up the Cats on the weekend.
B-R-O-W-N-E!

It seems to me that a couple of years ago, if someone like Austin had played just one good game in the reserves he would get a game, he has now played about 5 in a row and still cant!

I think this is great, finally we are getting some real competition for places, these young guys are having to push themselves before they get a game, and they seem far keener to hold onto their position, which makes them play better (in theory).

We should have left Hampson in the team. Was a good balance. Kreuzer will need to help Cloke out now as much as possible and if Fev is off/gets triple-teamed we could be in trouble. Waite will probably play forward.

Great to see Browney back in the side. He's a gem.

Hammo played a really ordinary game last week so it's a good move to send him back to the Ants to get some confidence back and hopefully he can do what Browney has done and work himself back into the side in a few weeks.

Aussie unlucky again but he's just got to keep working hard and performing well for the Ants. He'll get a few games before the end of the year, I'm sure.

Nice changes :thumbsu:

Here's hopeing Hawks and Freo get up for you guys to slay the Dons and kick clear in the 8:thumbsu:

Go you Bluebaggers:D

This is such a great sign that we are even talking about this. Means our defence is performing well when we were probally worried about it at the start of the year. See comments below from Mark Riley on the CFC website today:

Riley also said emerging defender Mark Austin, who has been an emergency for the past five matches, was likely to make that six this weekend, despite his fine form in the VFL.

"Probably not," Riley said when asked if Austin, who was named on extended bench, would play.

"Mark Austin has been in the best (in the VFL for the past) six weeks in a row.

"That says: 'Well, how come he's not getting a game?' That must mean the three or four tall defenders playing in the first 18 are doing well.

"They're growing some depth in their list and all good football teams have depth in their list and we're not quite there yet, but like most areas of our game, we're growing."

Is Russel big enough to tackle Lucas, cos I'm pretty sure Carazzo isnt. Maybe Russel goes back, and Carazzo can play a negating half forward role on McVeigh?

lol, i thought murph to lucas russell to hille?

waite should play back on lucas. stick with what got us here

Yes, Russell is the second coming of Kris Massie. ;) :thumbsu:

That win when we were undermanned is one of the best wins I've had the pleasure to attend. :)
