According to an article on smh.com.au J Bolton and Fosdike in for Bevan and Malceski.

Damn about Malceski, because he really has shown some good signs but it fits in with the two to three weeks Roos has given most of this years first game players (except for Dempster who got dropped later on in the season). Still Jude is an important in and Fosdike will add a bit of dash and despite the negitive comments made towards hime, he is the better bet for a spot on the list than Spriggs who can't kick over a jam tin - Fosdike can.

Also I think Bevan has warn out his position in the team and is better off for a run in Canberra.

agree with u guys about Malceski. Thought he did enough to keep his spot, very rarely does a youngster have such a good frist three games. But i suppose your right robbieando that Fosdike add a bit of dash.

A much better balance to the side with Bolton and Fosdike in, we now have another outside midfielder which we are sadly missing. When fit, Fosdike is a very usefull asset to our side. I know he has been down for a while but he does posses something we lack and Williams cannot carry the load on his own.

This is his last chance though you would think

how can fosdike get in ahead of schneider? makes me wonder - he has more to offer than fosdike!

the reserves have a bye this week

One is a midfielder, the other is not, fairly simple

Still looking with one eye.

Fosdike has far more experience, and with the potential of being a wet weather game, is probably suited better to conditions.

Pity abt Malceski, but it was gunna end sooner or later.

Yep Scott, the weather will be what the Swans have their eye on - Tigers dropped a couple of talls so they are watching it too.

Been wanting to see fozzy's form and hes finally been given the chance. Good to see crouchy in the midfield again. I definitely think he adds quite a bit of value there.

I'm confident about this game. Leo on Richardson will be a good match up.

Anyone think this is a big mistake????

I spose you have to Fossie a go at some stage but I would've thought Malceski's penetrating kicks would be a boon on the MCG compared to Fossies dinky littlies, and that's pretty much all I saw in ressies last week, got plenty of it but disposal by foot was ordinary at times (i.e. nothing had changed). I certainly didn't think he'd done enough to get back in.

Fosdike had a better game than Schneider in the last reserve game. He was very good but by no means dominant. In typical Fossie fashion, a few kicks went astray.

Backs: S. Dempster L. Barry C. Bolton
Half Backs: B. Mathews L. Roberts-Thomson T. Kennelly
Centre: J. McVeigh L. Ablett J. Crouch
Half Forwards: R. O'Keefe A. Goodes J. Bolton
Forwards: N. Davis B. Hall M. O'Loughlin
Followers: B. Kirk, D. Jolly, P. Williams
Interchange: A. Buchanan, J. Ball, J. Saddington, N. Fosdike
Emergency: N. Malceski, J. Moore, M. Nicks

Great to see Jooba back, Fossie getting a run to prove his worth, NOG getting a starting spot in the centre square, and Kirk making his debut game as a ruckman.

Bit disappointed for Malceski - but giving Fosdike a run to see where he's at seems fair enough.

Team looks much better with Jude in it. A bit nervous if its wet though - still remember the last time we played Richmond in the wet all too well. :( Only time I've ever considered booing my team - but in the end got up and left in disgust as soon as the siren went.

Stafford can't even get a game for Richmond consistently now - dropped again. Getting rid of him might prove to be one of the more inspired trade deals of all time, as despite the Swans recent history of injuries to ruckmen, I doubt they could have found a place in the team for him in the last couple of years! :D

Fossie and Saddo on the bench - reminds me of the grim old days of 2002.

Thought Mal was did some good things last week and would...WOULD have been poised to increase his involvement this week. But alas, Roosy up to his old tricks of tightening the reigns just prior.

Fossie is a mistake. He's a fringe player and a fringe player should not be allowed on the main board. I thought the objective of this club was to play to our future strengths and not patch holes here and there.

Were the Lions dropping Tim Notting for Craig Bolton because of match-ups or a horses for courses strategy? This isn't that different a personnel example.

Our depth is not that brilliant to play with fire. We played with fire against Saints and embarrassingly, we're one of the few teams this year who can't take the ******** out of the average Saint...because we left Schauble in the stands because there wasn't a match up for him?? RIIIIGHT!

I don't have the stats on me, but I would have thought Fosdike in recent years has saved his best for the MCG and especially the Tigers. The extra room on the "G" seems to suit his hard running endurance style of play.

Considering the weather forcast (cold, some rain and very windy) the ball is going to be on the ground alot so the inclusion of Jude is a massive bonus.

When you look at both sides I think we have a massive advantage in the mature body stakes, especially around the ball. Considering this and the weather forcast keep it tight and physical around the stoppages and we can really smash em.

Spot on, Fossie is an endurance specimen who happens also to be a skilled footie player, my guess 18-21 possies (quote me on it !) Malcescski great young fella no way he would have that impact.

And spot on, Jooba will mudlark it with the best of them

My take on the key matchups:

Leo on Richo - Our best defender should get first crack at their best forward. All this conjecture about Leo being too short is silly, he's been giving away height to key forwards all season and overall done pretty well. B2 as the standby option.
LRT on Simmonds/Knobel - gets whichever one is not rucking.
Crouch on Krakouer - Crouch gets the small defenders role again this week.
Dempster on Campbell - Has done well over the past 2 weeks.
Not too sure how B2 fits into this structure.

Kirk on Tuck - Tuck's been fantastic for them this year and his influence must be controlled.
B1 on Coughlan - Two hard nut midfielders go head to head. Should be great to watch.
Ablett on Johnson - Another big run-with role for Noggy, I'm hoping he's learnt a bit from last week.
Jolly/Ball v Simmonds/Knobel - Disappointing last quarter from the ruck duo against Collingwood, I'm expecting a big game from them.

Gaspar on Hall - Unsure on who may line up on Hall, could be Mark Graham.
Thursfield on O'Loughlin - The hot tip from the Richmond board, according to the same person who said earlier in the week that Thursfield would be selected.
Bowden on Goodes - Bowden has played on key forwards before but should be capable of running with Goodesy.
Chaffey on O'Keefe - ROK must do better than last week on prevent Chaffey's rebound from halfback.
Newman on Davis - Couldn't see Kellaway taking this role, so its Newman by default.

Yeah. Dropping Malceski (silky smooth skills) for Fosdike (kick and hope) just adds to our list of sh1thouse disposals.

How is our forward line supposed to compete with up-country mongrel punt hospital passes coming in from Fosdike, Saddington, Bolton, Matthews, Kirk etc.

I have a bad feeling about this game.

Hold your horses there big boy, don't lump Bolton and Kirk with the rest of that lot. Disposal from both of them has been pretty good this year, Bolton particularly.

That's just the point I think. If it is wet the above is exactly what the opposition will be expecting. A typical tight hard game, contest to contest with our hard runners making a lot of contests and tieing it up. Wouldn't it be nice to break that mould, particularly in the wet with some fast long delivery to an open forward line(i.e. pretty much what the Tiges did to us at the SCG last year). Maybe Fossie can do it but from what I saw in the seconds last weekend I don't have that feeling.

I still think Barry is too small for Richo, who is one of the biggest forwards going around (and we saw how much he struggled against Gehrig).

Ablett on Johnson - Another big run-with role for Noggy, I'm hoping he's learnt a bit from last week.
The other advantage of this is that Johnson doesn't have a defensive game so allowing Ablett to run off him and set up attacks.

Gaspar on Hall - Unsure on who may line up on Hall, could be Mark Graham.
Hall would kill Graham - I think it will be Gaspar.

They don't really stand out.

In previous years we have double teamed Richo and got him really frustrated... expect to see the same again with probably Saddo playing infront and Leo man on man
