Otto will miss another

Given that Hudson is out this week i think Otto will miss another week. Give him a chance to full recover his groin. It also give king a real chance to dominate a game.

Wasn't it meant to be about an illness not groin?

Otto has been carrying an injury similar to Chappy. For him to be as close to 100% before each game he needs to the the recovery stuff. He couldn't, so thats why he missed. We may as well give him another week to get the groin right and bring him in for the roos

Re: Otto will miss another

misleading title.

It is a matter of opinion, not fact, that Otto will miss.

Not really, otto is only a 50-50 chance to play. Do you think they would risk him?

Geez, if you're holding us to journalistic standards in substantiation, most of the threads in this forum would be shut down... I think the title was a grabber;)

It was a virus early in the week, however the abductor/groin was playing up at the end of the week.

Same goes with Chappy, although his abductor has been a problem for 2 weeks.

Re: Otto will miss another

do you actually think they would've played him last week even if he was fully fit? somehow i think they were questioning playing all three big men against richmond right from when they named the teams, given the weather forecast etc at the time. thoughts?

Re: Otto will miss another

IMO they were never going to play 3 rucks and clearly planned that Ottens would be rested for King to get a run in the seniors.

It would be foolish to play 3 ruckmen in one team, especially when our team relies so highly on rotating and resting runners so we can run an entire game out. It could only potentially work if Ottens replaced NAblett, but I woulnd't agree with that either...

King is obviously being given every chance to prove he deserves Blake's spot. He should not play finals unless Ottens or Blake is injured.

Re: Otto will miss another

They would have played 3 rucks. Bomber has said it on nemourous occasions. If we were going to do it against richmond would have been it

And you think what Bomber says to the media is then completely factual?
It serves two purposes: it puts a little bit of doubt into the opposing coaches mind as to whether there will be three big men playing, and it also signalled to a club champion that he needs to pull his finger out and that his career isn't over and that he has a chance to play in finals if he can get in good enough form (this was for the purpose of making sure we had three fit and in form ruckman come finals, depsite only planning to pick two).

You'd have to say that most likely Otto and Chappy won't play, or they would have lined up on the ground. Sorry Sarah, yep, Enright too.

Adelaide has named key defender Ben Rutten and Nathan Bock among six possible inclusions for Sunday’s clash with Geelong.
The Crows, which must make at least three changes to cover the loss of Ben Hudson (club suspension), Michael Doughty (hip) and Ken McGregor (quad), also named Brent Reilly, ruckman Jonathon Griffin, Bryce Campbell and Luke Jericho in the 25-man squad.
Reilly missed the Showdown with a corked glute and promising ruckman Griffin has not played since round 13 but has performed soundly in the SANFL. Campbell went back to the SANFL last weekend after making his AFL debut the previous week but Jericho was an emergency against Port and did not play in the SANFL.
Rutten, Bock and Ian Perrie all proved their fitness by training on Thursday morning at West Lakes. Rutten has been sidelined for the past three games after hurting a knee and calf against St Kilda while Bock was a late withdrawal last weekend with groin soreness.
There is a training session at Max Basheer Reserve on Saturday morning and the squad travels to Geelong later in the day.

The team is:

B: Graham Johncock, Ben Rutten, Scott Stevens
HB: Andrew McLeod, Nathan Bock, Jason Torney
C: Nathan van Berlo, Scott Thompson, Chris Knights
HF: Simon Goodwin, Ian Perrie, Scott Welsh
F: Brett Burton, Nick Gill, Jason Porplyzia
R: Ivan Maric, Robert Shirley, Tyson Edwards
Inter (from): Kris Massie, Jonathon Griffin, Richard Douglas, Luke Jericho, Bryce Campbell, Brent Reilly, Martin Mattner

In to 25: Rutten, Bock, Griffin, Jericho, Reilly, Campbell.
Out of 22: Ken McGregor (quad), Michael Doughty (hip), Ben Hudson (club suspension).

These are some handy inclusions.

Thoughts on the AFC team...

They made no mention of this tonight ... not sure what you heard. I believe this was said yesterday.
Might have been Ch 9 - I awaited the Foxtel program at 7.30 for confirmation of this "Ins and Outs" - and that is what they said!!!
As I said, I only half listen when it's a line-up for Sunday. I would be surprised if they are all included but Parkin and the boys think King might not play if Ottens is fit - "Ottens and Blake have been Geelong's winning combination. Enright and Chapman definite possibilities since they are named."

Mike Sheahan will have his weekly whinge on the withdrawals and how punters are being ripped off

Won't be Saturday night, Geelong must name their side by Saturday morning, I think from memory it is about 10 or 11am.

Someone maybe able to assist there, however Geelong's team has to be named by then, they can replace only from the 3 reserves past this time.

Which is exactly what the Hawks did with Franklin to cause a stir in the betting ring.
