I don't think anyone will be dropped, its more of a question which inclusions will not make the final cut. Probably all except Adkins and Carroll.

I think Adkins will definetaly come in, I don't know about Carroll though.

We might give Munro another run, or Chambers or Selwood their first goes of the season/career.

It will be interesting.

But I think with Glass being OK (except the last two weeks) this year, McDougall/Staker/Jako sharing CHB duties and Hunter as a third tall back, there is no need for Carroll in the team.

We've lost two midfielders, so I'd like to see us replace them with two midfielders.

As big a critic of Carroll that I am, I would like to see him in the side. Just gives us more options to combat Hamill, Gehrig, Koszcitzke, Reiwoldt and whoever else they may have. We've got lots of options to rotate through the midfield.

Yea, but they're only going to be play two tall forward through the forwardline at a time I'd say along with Aaron Hamill.

So Glass would take whoever is play FF, I'd like to see Hunter on Hamill (see if he can take another scalp), and I wouldn't mind seeing Collica get a crack on him (same height, but Collica would be outmuscled, but see what he can do).

and at CHB would generally be McDougall, but give Staker a run there at times, and if required Jakovich can even go to CHB, so it's not as we need another tall defending option in the team.

We've got 5 at the moment - Glass, McDougall, Hunter, Staker and Jakovich.

Have a look at that list again. Staker and McDougall have done nothing at AFL level to suggest they could hold a key defensive post against a player like Gehrig, Hamill or Reiwoldt.
Hunter is a bit short and should not be relied on.
Jakovich is playing at CHF due to his lack of speed, would be exposed by the Saints athletic talls.

That only leaves Glass. Many people cringe at the prospect of having Glass as our #1 tall defender.

yea thats true, to a certain degree, but I don't know exactly what Carroll's gonna add to that...........

Staker and MacDougall may have done little, but we might as well try em out and see.

Hunter isn't overly short, and performed admirably on Tredrea, and held Rawlings to pretty much nothing after he killed Glass early on (Glass also had a magnificent second half).

I would rather see Munro, Chambers or Selwood come in than Carroll because we know what Carroll can do (which is very little) but I wouldn't mind seeing the other three in action.

Exactly...
Staker and McDougall may have done little to suggest that they can hold down a defensive spot. In the case of Carroll, however, there is absolutely no question that he cannot hold down a defensive spot. Whoever he plays on will kick multiple goals and then some, simple as that. I'm thinking back trying to remember the last time this year that he *hasn't* been towelled.

So, rather than the certainty of crapness in Carroll's case, I'd prefer the untried rookies, because there is at least some chance that they'll do the job, which frankly I don't think there is with Carroll. If worst comes to worst and they do get towelled, at least we're getting some good experience for our young'uns, which still puts us ahead of where we'd be if we played Trent.

Substitute "Carroll" for "Staker and McDougall" and your statement is just as accurate.
Carroll has no future, whereas Staker & McDougall do.

very clever Jabber ... you actually fully convinced me to omit Trent from the team ... I however, don't make the choice, and I BELIEVE that the selectors will give him another game....

this could very well be my last post for a while, I am off to study overseas for a while ... hopefully I'll find a nerdbox sooner rather than later.

come on you eagles

Glass has played well on Hamill before
Gehrig is slow and Jako can take him on
Collica , Hunter, Carroll can mop up the rest and one will sit on the bench as back up.

Still, at the TAB odds $10 on saints for an under 29.5 point win looks a good investment ( also $10 on doggies v Melbourne. Melbourne on 5 wins..do they want to get to 6 )

This actually has to bode well for Adkins. He is obviously right up there in the coaches plans as he has been recalled even though he didnt get a chance to show his stuff last week as Perth had the bye, so he is obviously *this* close to cementing his spot, few good games to end this year then a strong pre-season should see him getting first 22 football next season:) (*note i do realise Chambers was getting first 22 footy last year but thats beside the point:P)

Well I lost my Eagles bet but not the way I expected

But here's a googly...which makes next weekend very important

Geelong V Melbourne on Friday. At stake is a priority draft pick for the loser, both are on 5 wins. Let's hope the Dees win, if they do we should be guaranteed an away win over Geelong. If the Cats win we're in for a hard game.

And we have to overcome a good Crow side. It will be tough.
