Seems interesting that replacing a crumbing forward with a bigger bodied forward, there being no true crumber left in the squad (although beams and sidey have tried valiently over last few weeks) One upside is without drummond/adcock they don't have anyone who will crumb magnificently across half back so hopefully doesn't hurt too much

Thomas and Didak can play the role if necessary, and as you said, Sidebottom and Beams are excellent at playing forward despite being mids. It's incredible to think how many options we have for small forwards... given we have those four in the side, with Medhurst, Davis, Dick and Lockyer all out of the side.

barham speed against a slow brisbane midfield could benefit us..
apart from that they are the same players except that obree has the experience.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Barham's rising star nomination where he got 30 odd touches, against Brisbane at the Gabba?

Presti on Fevola

Reid on Brown with Maxwell double teaming when he can

Forward line needs a re-shuffle-

CHF:Beams Cloke Sidey
Anthony
FF Didak Dawes

man cant wait to see Jack Anthony kick 6 this week. loling at brisbane bears having someone to try hold him down when he kicks more goals than Fev or Brown this week combined

I actually don't think Reid needs Maxwell coming in third man up. Reid has a great leap and good speed, I've actually noticed him getting out-positioned by teammates coming in when he had a clear fist or clear route to fist on the ball.

I like Reid on Brown sure Brown beats him one on but with his injury Reid will kill him on the rebound

1.he cant kick after 10 years of playing professional football.Sorry I have no respect for a player that refuses to work on their weaknesses.
Deary me....how do you knwo how hard he works at his game??

Blokes like Licca and even T.Shaw were some of our hardest trainers and most respected players because they worked hard to play a role despite their limitations.

Strange how people seem to pick and choose fav's.

Not everybody can be a silky skilled soft out-side player like Didak.

2.Consistently fails to deliver in big games.

Gee......you must not rate many of our players than!

The Cheese is a quality pies man, and is the best option this week....

Barham may get a chance later on....who are the blistering quick blokes that we need to try and blanket at the Lions? And why cant Johnno (another bloke grouped in with O'Bree that people tend to dislike) or Welligham and Toovey couldn't handle.

So did Mcgough in his second game and look how he turned out. Maybe his form doesn't warrant him coming back in the team. Obree has been a good servant of the club, ands like others have said it's a long season, with Swanny and Ball having niggling injuries, we need Obree at the moment.

I would rather Obree playing than risk an injury to Bally and Swan.

As for Fraser, I don't think he fits into this team. I have always been a supporter of Fraser, but with the inclusion of jolly, he just hasn't become that extra forward option that we were hoping. Wood needs to be given time to regain that good form he had last year, because Fraser just isn't a better option at the moment.

Couldn't agree more. Just making an observation and seeing if my memory was correct. Would be a bit of a Malthouse move to bring him back on that sort of basis - he did well last time, he'll do well again!

With the weather bad Wood might get replaced and Dawes called on to fill in with 5 mins in the ruck per quarter . This might give Jolly a chance to play one out and work himself back into the form he had at the Swans.

Oh great :( If Dawes gets dropped i won't be happy at all.
It would be silly to drop Dawes, he's probably the best of our talls below his knees. Don't think you need to worry on that front.

No late changes, all 3 emergencies are playing in the reserves.

And thank god we didn't play Barham.

Live Chat;

Barham wins a clearance from the stoppage, kick not effective and Gold Coast go inside.

As soon as I type that Pies turn it over and Barham has given away a free to Dixson who kicks long and touched on the line.

Still playing dumb, inaccurate football.

Had Luke Rounds not had that shoulder injury at the wrong time, he could have been an excellent chance for a debut over these next few games (with Leon out). He's already come in and slotted one in the first quarter at Southport too. :thumbsu:
