Thought he did some really nice things, though there were a couple of things I still would have changed - but not a lot.

The new coach is going to win me over really quickly to be honest.

How they see our game plan (it should be quick, direct and no messing about) and how they see some players specifically:

Surjan - Is the best small defender on our list.
Logan - Is shit
Harlett - Midfield
Redden - Our best Ruckman
Salter - If he stays, a Forward
Banner - If he stays, a Player
Rodan - If he stays, a Sub. And we train him specifically for that role.

Buddha for official coach.

He deserves an extension.

One of the many former players I enjoyed watching (even have a computer mini-disc of him somewhere) was Whiskas.

Port Adelaide hierachy, SIGN HIM UP!

Did quite well in what he had left with so many of our best 22 out with injury. The gameplan while it wasn't perfect i could see what Hocking was trying to do.

When he was announced caretaker, I wasn't exactly thrilled. From the stories I've heard regarding his reputation, it seemed to me as though he wasn't really up to the task. I think I've done almost a full backflip on what I think of him. I hope he stays with us in some capacity next season, though not necessarily as head coach, but wouldn't be overly disappointed if this were the case.

BTW, has anybody here rubbed his belly for good luck for next year?

Buddha is the sort of bloke you need around a club with lots of young blokes. The couple of speeches I heard him give when he was development coach in 2010 won me over as well as what Toots told me about the things he saw Buddha do when he volunterred his time at the club whilst his health allowed him to do so.

Buddha got our mid field to have a decent crack at getting the hardball just like he did when he played. The last two weeks its been refreshing to see our guys have a crack, run the ball and take on their opponents. He got rid of so much unnecessary BS we have had in our game plan for the last 3 years.

I don't want Buddha as head coach, but I want him to stick around and i want him to work with our mid field not our forwardline. He was a bloody champion mid fielder and that is the group of players he should be in control of not the forwards.

We didn't have two rucks available today.

I was thinking about last week when it really cost us when Lobbe went down in the last quarter. Not that sure about how badly Redden was injured for the WCE game either. All year we selected our ruck strategy based on the opposition and that mindset was wrong.

Took over a tough gig at a difficult time. Look at the improved performances of Young and Wingard as an example in the past 4 weeks just by allowing a bit of freedom and confidence in their abilities. My respect for the guy has increased tenfold since he's been under the spotlight.

Buddah got the guys playing with spirit and daring. Primus tried that earlier, but it waned quickly. Buddah has a great personality and must stay. From some of the posts, it appears that he will. That is a good start for next season.

Buddha gave me 10 times as much hope and excitement and reason to actually watch the games than Primus. I don't want him as coach next year, but he did well. Selections obviously still ridiculous, but I've resigned to the fact that I'll never be satisfied with them. He held our team up as if we were a hot dog and everything was slipping from underneath us. Well done Buddha.

Agree with REH. Buddha for midfield coach.

Did a good job. Some very noticeable difference in game style in 4 weeks. More than happy to have him in charge of the midfield.

A little surprised at the criticism he received in terms of structure for the 4th quarter against Richmond. I think he could see some of our players were runing out of legs. They had a run-on so we brought numbers back to the ball. Had we won, I imagine nothing would have been said. Funny too that the most vocal critic of the tactic was Tim Watson. How did he go at coaching?

I agree with others here, I wasn't sure what to expect when he was pointed caretaker, I was of the opinion he could be someone on the way out the door.

but he has been refreshing over the past few weeks. A couple selections aside, hes tried stuff, and he hasn't seen it as an audition. A selfless act, because generally caretaker coaches seem to either get the full time gig or fade away into obscurity (I have no facts to back this up).

I didn't see all of yesterdays game as I was travelling until just after 1/2 time but what I saw from that point on seemed to be a side wanting to take the game on, play with a bit of risk, and a coach who was trying to think on his feet how to manufacture a win. In my mind, he has a more creative footy brain than Primus.

That being said, we cannot afford to appoint another coach from within, however I'd be keen to keep him around. Midfield coach with Rehn maybe (as someone else mentioned).

I'd like Josh Carr in some development role, but also doing the running on match days. Think while he's learning the gig, his passion could be sued on field in this way.

Either way, if I ever run into him around the club or around time, he's got a pint or two coming his way for what he's done over past month.

As funny as it seems, I've got some hope for next year again. Fresh coach/fresh start/smart board appointments/new fitness regime, and a side that when it wants to can run with most (non top 4) sides.

+1 For Buddha as a midfield coach. By all reports a great developer of talent, as his record with producing quality juniors down at Geelong will attest to.

One thing noticeable about yesterday, there was no "chippy-chippy".. our ball movement was so quick, and so often we looked down the middle rather than to the flanks. Far less switching and stagnant play, it was incredible really. The long kickout down the centre by Hartlett, to Young and then Rodan for a goal was indicative of the way we played.

Bravo Buddha, most enjoyable game I've seen all season. I hope you stick around and it sounds like you will.

Probably our play of the season. and apparently it was teasm instruction to take the game on like this.

I was rapt Buddha was given the caretaker role. A good honest bloke with no serious claims for the top job. I loved him from the first time I heard him at a members night (2010 i think?). Did exactly the kind of job I expected.

Whilst our list is still missing stocks of young KPP's and line breaking midfielders, clearly there is a core group of talent for the next bloke (please be Eade, please be Eade) to work with.

It was a delight to see players lead-up to the footy, mark it, roll inside and kick it long to the next contest. I could be mistaken, but I reckon our first backwards kick for the day was Carlile late in the 3rd quarter.

I thought it worked alright, he messed up probably getting them to all go back after we got back to 1 point behind as when we won the centre clearance we looked stupid flooding back but clearly the message was to run it forward in a wave and spread and I think the boys did that really well in the last, we stopped them scoring and looked dangerous when going forward. That goal by Rhodin was one of the best we've done this year, thats the kind of play we want to see, taking the game on etc.

Also, how he is not our super sub each week is ridiculous. The guy could play another 5 years as a permanent sub.

Dom obviously didn't get a kick until then.:D

But what about the Youth???

He did a great job. They all did. He had no idea it was coming, nor wanted it. Classic Port of old yesterday with a third of the players carrying the flu. Two of which are carrying it so bad they did well to take the field. Injuries, BMT for one has been carrying a hip for the last 3 weeks. Finally snapped it early in the 3rd quarter and never said a word. On crutches today and will be for a while. Others are the same but no-one wanted to come off yesterday as it wasnt about their own career, it was about adversity. Thank you Buddha, gotchy etc for not getting involved in politics, and making the best of what was handed to you. Absolute respect.
