Why on earth did GWS pick Cameron McCarthy??? It's bizarre - where are they gonna play him? As a small forward? They're going to end up spending several years developing him then having to trade him or Patton or whoever out just when they're about to hit their prime. It's weird is what it is. And then Lobb as well! Their other talls who aren't even in the team much yet like Jaksch, Phillipps etc are going to be looking at this thinking, "Well, that's it for my career at GWS."

Mitch Thorpe didn't get picked, maybe a rookie spot?
Yeah afaik, that is where he was most likely to go.Probably. Does he qualify for PSD?

It's not obvious. Would be stunned if we took someone like Thorp. Doesn't fit the types we recruit in regards to attitude. No thanks.Depends on who has spots left too. Carlton are the obvious ones having passed on McCarthy.
GWS will keep him warm for 2 years and will go home to freo. Thinking freo will be thereabouts for the next 2 years so there pick will be around the 14-18 mark. Given he likely won't play that much, they may lose out with a worse pick. Silly decision to get him. Unless they know something that we don't.. Like Patton is leaving soon..They could only be stockpiling to trade for more really high picks in future years. Probably not a bad strategy given the large umber of players of very similer ages they have at the moment.
winners probably saints , don't rate collingwoods picks as much as everyone else think freeman is overrated , brisbane cleaned up aswell , kangas with mcdonald and dumont and hawks with the reward vs risk pick in garlett could be the steal of the draft
So we don't have hundreds of threads about the same thing.
Who won and lost according to BigFooty standards? Who were the bolters? Who were the sliders? Who is still available?
He finished the year with a bang. Pretty exciting player to watch. Any pick at 58 is speculative, but would be worth giving a chance and seeing how he goes. I think Pearce was more speculative than Grey. Pearce has potentially more upside, but Grey has shown more and will take less time to develop. So happy they both got picked up thoughGrey is speculative but should have plenty of upside given he's never really given footy 100% in the past.
