Yea look,

dont agree that Goddard has ever proven himself as an AFL star midfielder. Was an absolute star utility and very versatile footballer no doubt, but an A grade AFL midfielder, no.

Despite the fact that he spent by far his two best seasons playing the great majority of his time in the midfield, making the AA teams both years, finishing top 12 in the Brownlow in one of them and having an even better year the next?

Perhaps you missed the 2010 drawn grand final for instance, where he was playing in the guts, had 31 possessions (one of only two to get over 26), 5 clearances (same number as Lenny Hayes and one more than Luke Ball) and an equal game-high 14 contested possessions, not to mention pushing forward for two contested marks (one an all time classic, deep in the last quarter), resulting in two goals?

Pretty sure they are changing the AFL Hall of Fame criteria to get Lennon in straight away next year.

If Lennon becomes anywhere near as good as Goddard then the Tigers have done amazingly well. Trying to claim he is better or going to become far better is delusional in the extreme.

Lennon's major issue is he will be found out in the AFL because he has questionable leg pace. He has recently had a major ankle issue.

He is nothing like Goddard. The closest player in this draft that is a good comparison for BJ is Scharenberg. Scharenberg has claims to being the second best player in this draft and is a class above Lennon.

Lennon has proven himself as a genuine midfielder and also a genuine forward that kicks regular goals. Goddard has done neither.

Just out of curiousity where was Goddard playing before he got drafted? Because I'd imagine it was in the midfield as well? So he's at the very least established himself as much as Lennon has in there, and that's without bringing up the fact that he actually spent a lot of time in the midfield with St Kilda and Essendon.

And also ignoring the fact that he is actually an elite kick on both sides of his body

Boyd, Kelly, Billings, Aish, Scharenberg, Kolodjashnij, McDonald, Garlett are all undeniably better talents. That's also not including Hogan or Martin, who would have been part of this draft. So that's 8 in the draft that are more talented, plus 2 more that would have been in the draft.

Garlett would easily be top 5 for talent in the draft. Maybe top 3. Nothing wrong with his footballing ability.

You are right about Scharenberg, I think he could end up the best player from the draft.
