Despite the fact that he spent by far his two best seasons playing the great majority of his time in the midfield, making the AA teams both years, finishing top 12 in the Brownlow in one of them and having an even better year the next?Yea look,
dont agree that Goddard has ever proven himself as an AFL star midfielder. Was an absolute star utility and very versatile footballer no doubt, but an A grade AFL midfielder, no.
Perhaps you missed the 2010 drawn grand final for instance, where he was playing in the guts, had 31 possessions (one of only two to get over 26), 5 clearances (same number as Lenny Hayes and one more than Luke Ball) and an equal game-high 14 contested possessions, not to mention pushing forward for two contested marks (one an all time classic, deep in the last quarter), resulting in two goals?
