Thompson, i wonder about his state of mind by the end of last year. Saying some weird shit and acting like that too.

Clarkson, why on earth would he come to us and leave what he has at hawthorn? We can offer him money, but so can hawthorn.

I feel we are fkd, no great options left out there. Whos the next young coach coming through ,who has put in the hard yards and been an assistant coach at other clubs and coached outright himself

We hav a young ( unproven ) talented list, but so has sides like melbourne for years, and they hav been a basketcase. We are coming to an important crossroad as a club, i just hope, no pray, we come out of this well. It may seem a bit over the top, but seriously we are starting to look like a rabble out there

Not to mention, with this new coaching accreditation, we have a list of 9 to choose from. AFL says who we can have, since I'm assuming you need the level 4 otherwise there's no point bringing it in

Yes, he is also very good mates with josh francou who i rate. Coached north adelaide here to a grand final a few years back and they were crap for years beforehand.

The players don't buy in to Buckley, he doesn't take responsibility for crap game style.

Teflon Buckley has turned our once mighty club (not long ago) into a laughing stock. He continues to persist with players who are not at top four club level ,nor attract quality players to fill a void . Our recruiting is sub standard.Some say winning is not everything but how many players have taken the next step under him .
Tonight was garbage our football basics are just so poor and have retracted under him . The team looks totally lost now and hopefully I'm wrong but it's going to get worse before it gets better . A club legend but he's in a no win situation and needs to step aside at years end . Get Clarkson at any cost .

Apart from the die hard Buckley brigade, I don't think Bucks has too many other supporters left. Most rational Collingwood supporters have realised that he's just not capable and have jumped off. The media know exactly where we are at and they have jumped off too.

It's now only a matter of time before we have a new coach.

And our standard of play has gotten worse and worse and worse and there are few positives since he started coaching.
Lets also include that to your list.
Have skills improves - no
Are we seeing a structure or game plan slowly developing - no
Have our 100+ players become better - no
Does there seem to be any team spirit out there - no
Are we recruiting well - no

No more excuses. Lets call a spade a spade. Things are not getting better and there are no glimpses of improvement.

Whilst I do think it's laughable to be calling for the coach to be sacked without the side having yet kicked a ball in anger, I will be seeing things very differently if we perform anywhere near as poorly in or beyond round 1 as we have the last 2 weeks. This week more so than last because of the significance of a last hit out before the real stuff. This is Bucks year to show what he's got. There are no more excuses and there is nowhere to hide. If we don't see some signs of significant improvement this year then it may well be time for the club to think very carefully about it's next move. At the same time, if we stink it up royally and look like going backwards then there can be no doubt what that next move needs to be. Like many, I have the patience to see a plan through but if the signs by late season are that it's not working, then I see no reason to allow it to continue. I think most of us hope or hoped that Bucks would be a great coach for the club but if he can't show significant signs of that this year then I hope he will recognise what is best for the club. Clearly I'm having my doubts albeit that they are fairly irrationally based in practice match form.

Despite all that, I think it's wise for everyone to sit back for a few weeks and let it play out. There is nothing to be gained and plenty to lose by pre-judging the way the season will pan out. There will be plenty of time late in the season to assess performance and make plans if needed. There clearly is no crisis at this point even if that is a possibility later.

Where's the player development? I look at my team in the NBA (Jazz), new coach this season, and you can see almost every player has improved in some way, whether it's their shooting/passing/defence/offence etc.

It's not even just Bucks, you need a strong coaching TEAM, to develop these players. We seem to be sorely lacking in this area.

How good of a year has Haywood having. He's numbers have jumped up heaps since Your new coach started

I'm not being a smartarse, but one year is 33% of the years he's coached to be fair.

It has absolutely everything to do with the turning over of the list, I cannot understand the logic otherwise. Explain to me how you expected us (keeping in mind the drafting structure in place) to turn years upon years of top table finishes, and an ageing list, into anything other than a 'rebuild' side?

I don't think there is a coach who would find a different result with this team - we're halfway through a rebuild for godsake. Looking at our list can you tell me that we're anything better than a 9-12 team? Seriously, if we had Al Clarkson I can't imagine much would change.

I can deal with dropping down the ladder every year since our list has gotten worse each each. And not even taking into account why that happened I refuse to support the coach when the players look like clueless idiots out there. I would be ok with bucks if the players were moving to the right positions but just stuffing up the skills. I would be ok if we were trying to do the right thing but we just weren't good enough. But under Buckley we don't do this. There is no structure and the game plan is terrible. That is on him. The skills and softness would be on the players but that is the list managers fault not Buckleys unless he is training them to be crap kicks.

Yeah I wasn't completely sold on giving him a max contract, but he's been terrific. Does it all, shoots it from everywhere, defends well, runs the pick and roll etc. Gobert has also improved out of sight, he's such a defensive weapon and now starting to put it together on the offensive end. Favors is also having a great year, the signs are very promising.

Yes, because managing a team of 13 where mainly 10 get game time with only 5 on the court at any one time, in a sport that chops and changes personnel willy nilly isn't at all dissimilar to AFL.

Team aside, have any of the 2010 players improved or have they gone backwards or plateaued under the current coaches?

Personally, I can only see Sidebottom as the only one that has improved. Swan only declined to injury or age. But the rest? Toovey? Blair? Goldsack? Cloke? Brown?

I reckon you can use that as a yardstick to see the overall picture of what has been happening the last few years.

Malthouse relied on players that would play discipline low risk footy and the top teams have proven to be high risk taking teams. Malthouse taught and recruited the wrong tyoes. Buckley is recruiting skilled players and they aren't the ones that are letting him down, it's the players from the Malthouse days that have been the issue.

Is he? Not sure thats true. How many skilled players have we draft in the last few drafts? Not many. players like De Goey and freeman might be very good players but they are not highly skilled. Just Average.

Going off various reports and my own limited viewings.

From 2014. Only Maynard is highly skilled.
2013. Sharenburg and langdon to lesser extent.
2011. Only Broomhead is highly skilled.

The rest were average or below average kicks. Considering only 2 of those players have played I hardly think Bucks is bringing in lots of skilled players.

If Malthouse HAD to rebuild it would've been 1-2 years later as we might've had another flag and going off his record.
Who knows what we would be doing now.
The players respected Mick that's all there is too it, they bought in to him at Collingwood.

A lot of people quote this but how many of those have been recruited since Bux was coach? Adams about the only one who has a weakness there.

Crisp has the same question mark in him and greenwood struggles also.

Based on last night you would have real doubts about varcoe also.

All of them arrived last year.

He keeps playing sinkers and even had him kicking the ball out.
