Google says she captains the Sixers. I dont think she has been captain of Australia. I think her Soccer commitments would get in the way.

Thanks for clarifying, could have sworn she was Aussie captain at one point. She doesn't play soccer anymore though, the Matildas told her she had to choose between soccer and cricket and she chose cricket.

Without trying to undermine Perry's achievement—a substantial knock of concentration and control, the likes of which she'd been threatening for years—the captaincy throughout this match has been poor on both sides. I don’t think either team has spent enough of the first three days actively trying to win at the risk of defeat. Most of the batsmen have put a high price on their wicket which is always refreshing in this day and age, but at the same time the intent to take wickets has been sorely lacking as was evident in many of the field placings and use of bowlers.

Also, you couldn't ascertain a firm and immediate directive from Rachael Haynes to accelerate the innings once Australia overtook England’s score (76 runs in the following 30 overs). Arguably we're well paced for a thrilling finish late on day five. Given it's only a four-day affair though, the Poms might feel justified in batting for the draw considering their current position. Say what you want about the pitch, I've seen the pink ball fly to enough imaginary first slips in 300 overs of cricket to suggest there's a strong chance for a result if somebody wants it enough.

If there were 6 or 8 points on the line for this Test, maybe that would incentivise more attacking play. Maybe it would have the opposite effect. The broader issue is that promoting the best spirit of the sport should be incentive enough, especially in the case of the women's game where the emergence of a ticket-paying public hinges on this sort of thing to at least some degree. Hopefully that is reflected in the final day of play today and not just reserved for next week's T20s.

Can't understand why this isn't on TV. They are showing all the shorter forms, why no test?

It's streamed online.

I've been at the ground last 2 days though.

Nothing against Meg Lanning (not playing at the moment I realise) but is there any reason why Perry is not captain? I thought she was captain previously
What do you know of her captaincy skills?

Best player doesn’t have to be captain.

I agree, best player doesn’t have to be captain but in cricket it often is.

Best captains I’ve ever had in cricket and footy were never the best players, who tended to focus too much on their own games. The system worked. :)

Yes, I realise that, it’s how I watched it yesterday. Just think it should have been on TV.

Thought it would be but the stream is good at least

First time watching 4 day cricket. An extra day would enable a result. Surely if the thought is to reinvigorate cricket getting more draws and fewer results is not the way to go about it? Obviously if points are allocated to each test more adventurous play may be encouraged.

pathetic pitch, pitched up by NSW
back again Friday , same pitch for T20
Most of these players, play very little test cricket in there careers, and should have been a highlite
Adelaide was available for nite cricket
