This has been done to death. No one's mind on either side of the argument will change. I've already said Buckley's biggest failing was that he didn't cut deep enough and therein lies one of the great issues with Collingwood fans - we over rate our players. Exhibit A: Fasolo Exhibit B: Jamie Elliott Exhibit C: Darcy Moore. All of these players are AFL standard, but would be rated lower by unbiased footy fans and by the coaching panel than we the fans, do.
The first step in assessing BUckley's performance - good, bad or indifferent is to assess the list in comparison to a team that's up and about - say Adelaide. All three players would struggle to get a game there. Yes, I know I'm being harsh on Jamie Elliott but realistically he has to take Bett's or Cameron's spot and even at his best that would be a close run thing. Go through our list and categorise every player A, B,C or D. With the exception of Pendles, Grundy and probably Treloar I'd bet you've rated them too high
As extension to that have you rated Buckley's performances as too high ?
Because the rest of the competition can't see how he is still there. I am sick of the excuses. Any coach needs to be able to develop a list
Also Would you say the same of the bulldogs list ?
