And everything you post, isn't.

Just FYI.
Nah, I just talk idle chatter.
The Gospel isn't me, no.

Except racing stuff, that's generally pretty good :p

I'm thinking, that as long as
I'm sure you'd be a worthy compatriot for me, r.e your last comment.
football I know a few things
Collingwood history pretty good
Racing history really good
Melbourne Cup history, that's my specialty

At least when I go (every week pretty much) to the races I'm never upset, it's always good.

Well being a pro-punter, sort of my game to know the races.

I'm sure we could discuss one day.

So, you want to play individuals based on last name......not merit?

I'm just looking forward to seeing those three names in the seniors. It excites me.

Whoever made the decision for us to get rid of a goal kicking coach will be the one who has cost Bucks his job. Pathetic goal kicking has cost us 2 games this year, which then costs memberships because we are losing, which then costs ticket sales. Which then costs firing and hiring a whole new coaching panel when Bucks gets sacked.

I'll guess we are right on the edge of the footy spending cap but surely a part time goal kicking coach who comes to one session a week can't have cost too much money. Once a week for 3hrs from January - September can't cost more than 50k.

It's not getting the players to play together which will cost Buckley his job, not the absence of a kicking coach. Dane Swan admitted as much on Fox Footy last night.

I take the whole thing with a large packet of salt, but I think you have named the only two names who would have sufficient gravitas to be taken seriously. I could almost believe it partially with those names attached, at least as a thought experiment.
One of the hints given, apart from being 2010 premiership players, was that they both also played with Buckley... So that rules Ball out. Maxwell and Johnson? Swan and Johnson lol. All sounds rediculously far fetched.

Isn't Johno working at the Club?
A bit risky, approaching Ed about the coach...
Would have to be current outsiders, with standing...like Maxy & Ball (can't think of anyone else)

Maxy and Swanny.

Not sure I agree with him but Swanny would be a good actor if it was him and Maxwell. On 360 last night he backed Bucks if the decision had to be made now. He said they have been in all games so why woud you sack him.

He said he is a better coach now and that it was never about tactics but the ability to get the boys to play together which he now is.

Whether you agree with what he said or not, it doesn't sound like someone who has approached Ed and said get rid of him.

Lmfao take nothing from that. He would know the question is comming and rehearsed his answer. A pies legend isn't going to come out and say yeah sack him.

Who cares what he says anyway. Results say the opposite.

I don't have Foxtel, so haven't seen it.

Maybe it was a couple of bigfooty posters who believe they were players of great standing

If Maxy & Ball turned up at Ed's office...
"Morning boys, what a pleasant surprise...cappuccino's? Gee this looks serious" as Ed moves to close the office door.

If Swanny & Dids turned up at Ed's office...
"What are you two scallywags doing here? You know I don't have a mini bar? It's nearly 11...Ok let's do lunch, but I have to be home by 7pm...pressing Intercom...Julie, cancel all today's appointments"
"Let's go...Dids, you driving? Haha just joking"

Oh Saintly, you just forget how many games I've played....

All the stats show we are up with the best of the league when it comes to fwd50 entries, clearances aren't a problem either. It's our forward line kicking behinds and letting the ball leave the area too easy.

Better accuracy and we beat the Bulldogs in rd1 and we have more confidence and momentum for the start of the season. Instead we kick like we've never played footy before and all confidence is lost.

I thought it was about the reduced contract (which BT commented at the time "was insulting")?

I wasn't happy with the way the careers ended for Davis, Didak & Ball.
All seemingly forced out...I know Ball had back issues, however looked as though he was encouraged to retire??

The reduced contract was insulting to him because he took all year to make up his mind about playing on. When he decided he wanted too there was no money left and he got a low contract. There was a few guys playing games with wanting more money around that time like Toovey and Caff who tried to shop themselves around only to discover nobody else wanted them

If you are vegan now, just think veggies, tofu all Greek style, or Indian style, or Italian.
Maybe a bit French.

So much you can do with veggies.

Eg Greek salad (with tofu?)
Is there a better salad than Greek salad?

Delicious, soothing goes with many foods
tofu??? tofu???
that's probably what they are eating down at the club!!!
i blame Buckley...

but seriously... no tofu ;-)

Aish can only play one position at AFL level and that is as a sweeper midfielder who plays one handball off the inside of the stoppage. It's the position he played in the games I saw of him at Norwood and it's the position he played late last season in the only period of his career that he looked like an above average AFL footballer. He's not strong enough to be pure inside and he's not fast enough or has the stamina to play pure outside. The stoppage sweeper makes the most of his strengths which is an above average decision-maker with good disposal. He will never make it as a defender for the same reasons he won't make it as an inside or an outside mid - he's slow and below average in 1v1 situations.

Aishe's failure for us demonstrates Buckley's shortcomings as a coach. If you want to manufacture a team to follow a set of rules verbatim there is an opportunity cost in the form of creativity at the front end and our more naturally gifted/creative players are feeling this cost. Aish/ Broomhead/ Moore and even I fear De Goey should constitute our most talented younger group of players yet the current environment/system is bringing out the worst in all of them. De Goey, Aish and Broomhead need more midfield minutes so they can get more possessions. They may not run and tackle as hard as Greenwood, Crisp and Adams but they are better with it in hand and in the medium term will redress the unbalanced blue collar nature of our midfield. It irritates me to no end that players who can lay a tackle are preferred to players who create stuff and can regularly hit targets by foot. This is a coaching issue.

From a broader team perspective Buckley's period as coach has been defined as one where the team has been terrified of risk. Only when we're under maximum pressure are changes made and risk encouraged - as was the case this season and last season when we played Geelong. Of course as soon as we get a couple of wins on board we revert back to risk averse tactics that are so familiar.

In short, no risk, no innovation, no creativity, no ambition (other than talk). Collingwood under Buckley really are the last men.

Did you read Pelchen's article in the age? Ripped into the pies recruiting.

Is Pelchen coming to the pies?

The implications of our list management will, on his reading of it, be playing out for quite a few years yet. I don't think he'd want to take responsibility for what he sees as our arrested development.

Thought it was a pretty superficial analysis.

The Wells, Treloar, Dunn bit in particular. How much that impacts on our TPP none of us including Pelchen will know but those 3 didnt come to the club at the expense of good quality youth. We had a major exodus of senior talent after 2016. Swan, Cloke, Williams, Brown, Frost, Marsh for a start. We picked up 4 kids in the draft from pick 30 to 57. What would he have us do, pick kids 60+ from the draft and leave our list light on for experience with a lot of kids running around who the odds suggest wont make the grade
