I miss the late 90s when you could grow ten dope plants.spends hours trimming up mates crops for all you could smoke and 10 bucks an hour. Then getting the resin off the sissors to make s little finger roll ball of hash. Smoking pipes in the toilets of every establishment in the city. Great days.
I gave up growing because of the teams of little yobbos who'd come round, and pinch your plants at night. I figured I'd rather buy than have those little hooligans in my backyard.

Here we line up for half an hour to enter a supermarket...
Classic Adelaide, go nuts over the openings of supermarkets and donut shops :$.

I miss the days of one way being the best way.

Frewville foodland really is the best super market I've been to.

Electra though...

Yeah, nah. Always forgot the switcharoo over the weekend. Should have been two way from the get go but cutbacks and all that bullshit. Mike Rann in parliament frequently brought it up as part of his arsenal against the Libs 'The only alternating expressway in the southern hemisphere thanks to the opposition', etc.

Not that I ever drove down it...

Hey guys, We are heading over to Adelaide for a week in April, so I've come to this thread for advice on things to do. So far the only thing anybody can suggest is to see the Pandas at the zoo & go to Haighs.

Adelaide is the only city in Oz I haven't been to so I really have no idea on the must sees/do's.

I lived in Lesbianville, I mean Semaphore, for six months. Nice spot but boring as hell, which probably describes Adelaide in general tbh.

The Central Market is worth visiting for the food and I'd head down to one of the beaches as well. Glenelg is always popular but Henley, Grange and Brighton are nice as well. Grange doesn't have a lot of shops but it's the least crowded beach. Make sure you visit the Oval as well even though Brisbane aren't playing there in April. Otherwise, there's not a whole lot to do in the city itself but there are some cracking spots just outside.

Try one of the wine regions close-by (Barossa, Hills and McLaren). Definitely visit the Hills for a nice day out, Belair National Park, Mount Lofty (and its Botanic Gardens), Cleland Wildlife Park, Stirling and the Lobethal Bierhaus are all recommendations there. Also head down the Fleurieu Peninsula and give Victor Harbour and Port Elliot a visit.

Well, this thread was a doozy.

Fringe over this week so we can all go back to shutting ourselves in over winter?

Recommend Fleurieu, it's stunning the whole way around.

This is a serious question and I'm not trying to be a smart arse, but if I was in Brisbane for a week, what would you recommend I see/do?

Living in Melbourne, I'm not entirely sure I'm qualified to answer that, I've been there a few times but typically to watch the lions.

In the CBD Southbank is really good& IMO Suncorp is the best rectangular stadium in Australia. If you've got the ability to travel check out the Gold Coast, theme parks etc. but I would say the Sunshine coast is a lot nicer but harder to get to if relying on PT. Australia Zoo is also on the northen side of Brisbane.

Sorry mate, thought you were based in Brisbane.

Some cracking boutique beer producers here now, Pirate Life, Mismatch, Smiling Samoyed, Little Bang, Big Shed Brewing. Pretty good food scene too, food trucks (and their subsequent bricks and mortar businesses) have been awesome for the city. The small bar legislation has breathed life into the city too.

That slide looks sick.

Looks like something I'd've liked to go on as a kid.
It truly was. Magic Mountain may have been somewhat of an eyesore on the outside but it had a charm that The Beach House just doesn't have.

From a joyful point of view, it sounds very much like the defunct Wobbies World.
