there is some not bad moves there. not huge stuff either but all stuff that if comes cheap has a chance to improve our team

Seriously.

Alex Forster is a WAFL reserves standard footballer.

Josh Growden name keeps on coming up, but seriously what has he ever done other than being a highly rated 16 year old? Sounds a lot like Hayden Jolly.

McCarthy is injury prone, but never got close to a game at Carlton. I know he was reasonably highly rated in the under 18's, but again what has he proven?

Weller is the only realistic one because there is actually some form to rate him on. Even then I am not particularly fussed, I have watched a lot of Gold Coast in there first few years and he's a just a solid, ordinary player. Now I know he's a young solid, ordinary player who will improve so I would be open to the idea of taking a chance on him, but I can see why Gold Coast delisted him. A club somewhere will give him a shot, not too fussed if it's us or not though.

Some of these guys that keep getting named are myths who just grow and grow as people throw their names up. Hands up, who here has actually witnessed Josh Growden play a game of football?

I haven't seen Growden play, but people who have seen him play have likened him to James Hird. Obviously he won't turn out that good, but if we have the chance to get a player for free who could turn out even half as good as James Hird was, why wouldn't we take it? Especially given the problems that we've had with our skills over the last 5 years.

I'm not fussed either way on Weller or Forster, and I'd be actively against us recruiting any KPP who's been delisted by Carlton, but personally I very much hope we do our best to recruit Growden.

I think some people here might be surprised how good renouf is next year with his first pre-season under his belt in 5 years

No matter what state his ruck work I'd be surprised and disappointed if he was able to keep Redden or Lobbe out of the side. It would be like Logan keeping Wines out on form. You'd thank Tommy for his 110% efforts but at the same time be acutely aware of height of the various ceilings.

I'd do **some sort of** deal that got us Boyd for Hartlett if we also got an actual lock down defender into place at HBF. An anti-Betts/Yarran/Thomas type. A Surj-II. Does the proverbial small lockdown defender exist these days or are they all Campbell Heath/Tommy Jonas sized now ? Are they all disciplined but anonymous Lyon-bots playing roles in zones ?

Boyd might not be on the fastest KPF track since, well, Jeremy Cameron but if he is, great. If not, surely 1-2 of Boyd, Butcher, Shaw or Redden will come good as a second forward in time to usefully help Schulz and ourselves to a flag sometime 2015-2016. Can't see Hartlett as quite that essential to a flag tilt as getting that second KPF spot nailed.
