The fact remains...Head is still not as good outside Australia. He needs to be better. I want him to go to another level in Test cricket outside Australia. That is the truest test - performing outside home country.

47 in India, 37 in the West Indies, 35 in England, so could be better. Those sub continent countries, other than India have caused him grief. In the 20's. Might be better given he'll open the batting in those countries now like he does in India, and likely anywhere else from here on end.

What an innings by Trav. Best by an Aussie in many years, probably at least since Smith in England in 2019.

We looked desperately in trouble of going 1-0 down at home in a series against England and he ripped the game away from them in dominant, demoralising fashion. Changed the whole tone of the series. Scored way more runs than anyone else (almost as much as the whole team scores before him!) and even seems to have given Marnus some confidence.

Just brilliant stuff.

Plus when Gilly came to the crease, Australia had a lead of 394, with a well set Clarke at the crease. So the side was hardly under any pressure.

To me, Head's innings was far superior in the context of the game.

Exactly. Take nothing away from Gilly as it was something special, but context matters.
