Bomber in full flight demonstrating his ability as a senior coach how to chastise the footy journos without blinking an eye lid…

Jeans, Sheedy, Norm Smith, Lyon, Parkin, John Kennedy, Blight, Coleman..and many others are a select few who had no qualms questioning the stupidity of others..

I know my club colours are showing here, but I think history did not vindicate Jeans in the aftermath of the Matthews-Bruns incident in 1985. Mea Culpa would have played a lot better than your-mob-did-bad-stuff-too.

Not sure your one to talk seeing as Sheedy loved that stuff too.

Peter Hudson
John Greening
Neville Bruns
Alan Stoneham

Jeans is a legendary coach but there’s no coincidence here. His players were continually involved in some of the most shocking examples of cowardly thuggery that the league has ever seen.

It’s a black mark on a super career and no, acts by teams of Sheedy’s or others don’t compare. We’re talking deliberate attempts to cause serious injury on unsuspecting opponents - attempts which succeeded more often than not.

You had plenty of players hit unsuspecting players on the field let's not pretend otherwise, Merrett, Andrews, Nagle etc.

Let's not also forget Long in the 2000 Grand final with his complete dog hit on Simmonds which could have left him paralysed. Not condoning some of our players or the common denominator in Jeans but you seem to want to wipe your hands clean on Sheeds for some reason.

Such a waste of time, just put on the entertainment, have no interest in hearing them speak. It's like asking a musician to do a press conference after each concert.

TD on Gavin Brown I could go on.
Not Sheedys plan. TD who was usually fair biffed Brown after Brown tried to biff Sporn.

Yabby teams at St Kildra bristled with psychos and thugs, above all Ditterich. It seems likely the hit on Greening was premeditated, ditto Hudson.

60s was a rough era but St Kilda were the roughest.

By the 70s Hawthorn and Richmond were very dirty, rivalling St Kilda. Balme as infamous as Cowboy Neale, and Matthews if anything worse.

Yabby came to Hawthorn in the 80s, I don't think he made them dirtier, if anything they calmed down. Matthews was already a dirty thug sniper, and while McKenna blamed Yabby for Bruns I think that was personal initiative.

Brereton was a flamboyant thug, but the other 80s thugs were 70s relicts like Dipper.

Maybe Yabby calmed down in his old age?

TD on Gavin Brown I could go on.
The facts are..that Collingwood’s Lord and everything pure of sweetness Browny…king hit Kieren Sporn moments before TD subsequently decked him with a thunderous right arm hook.

Terry was only reacting to what he saw what poor KS has just endured moments before and just decided in the heat of the moment to engage in an act of farmers fist to the pulverisation of Gavin’s beautiful face.

Jeans as Coach and police officer, and O'Dea as player and lower ranked police officer not only took away Greening's career, almost destroyed his life. We were robbed of probably the greatest talent to ever play the game.

That’s a stretch…

And Dipper’s disgustingly coward punch on Walsh was Jeans’ idea ?

I think not.

Which reminds me …the only real reason I made this Bomber Thompson thread is so I can find it easily down the track when the google search algorithm kicks in.

Geelong FC , Mark Bomber Thompson “ all of you “ YouTube video press conference.

There it is ..

TD cleaned someone else up later in the game did he not, pretty sure he got cited twice. I'll accept the Brown hit was retaliation but your mob went the biff early in that GF trying to unsettled Collingwood. I watched the game so don't try and dispute it.
