Is this a requirement of the meetups? Am I expected to squish nutsacks with say, peternorth? Gotta say I'm not too keen on this but in the spirit of fairness will give it a crack.

It's not a common meeting scenario either. I've never said "Hey, I'm Croweater, nice to meet you".
I've never met people after all previous association being through an online forum either.
If anything, it's axiomatically atypical. So I believe my asking the question was reasonable.
