I know he’s excelled centrally, but could JoGo move right and TAA upfield? Or move to a 3-4-3 with Robbo and TAA advanced?

I'm sure he could but imagine he would prefer to be a CB.

How do you mean? A 3-4-3 would leave our functionally workmanlike midfield short a man, and three centre backs would be unnecessary. Trent already gets very advanced in his position.

Alexander-Arnold is our primary playmaker outside of the front three. It's such a specialised role that changing the formation would throw his role off. Our formation is conducive to how we play. The midfield three does the engine room stuff - they press, win ball, and distribute to the overlapping wing backs or to the front three to let them finish the move. It's a well oiled machine and effectively 2-5-3 formation when we go forward, with the fullbacks getting high up the wings, while the midfield covers them defensively.

Anyway, Gomez is an alright wide defender but he's an elite centre back. If it was him or Koulibaly I'd take Gomez in a heartbeat. He's only 23 in a week, too. Our money, limited as it is in the midst of a pandemic, would be better spent on competition for the front three, and for the wing backs. We need to spend at centre back given all but Virg have injury issues and Lovren is on the way out, but not Koulibaly money.

Think we'll still get Werner eventually, but not through the clause. He seems desperate to come here and Jurg normally rewards that kind of dedication

Can see a lot of installments in the deal instead of upfront cash.
I'm not totally confident given the uncertainty of COVID, and we've also missed out on our first transfer target before (Mane/Gotze, Salah/Brandt). It would be great though, particularly as he always delivers when I play my housemate in FIFA.

Another thing to consider is how it disrupts the couple of years of uninterrupted harmony our first three has enjoyed. I hope it doesn't destroy the thing.

A June return is highly optimistic, way too many hurdles to go through before it can safely happen

Only takes a few players having covid and the whole thing is shut down again

The Premier League are planning to restart the season with a bumper weekend of televised matches in a template they will follow for the rest of the campaign.

Sportsmail has learned that TV companies have been told to prepare for the season to resume with one live game on Friday June 12 or June 19, followed by four live matches at separate kick-off times on Saturday and Sunday, before the return of Monday Night Football the following day.

While the hugely-anticipated restart fixture has yet to be chosen, Manchester United's visit to Tottenham has been mentioned, a game that was originally due to take place on Sunday March 15, the first weekend in which matches were postponed.

I think the front 3 would welcome the reinforcement, could even make them better

I agree. IMO when we are playing a 4-2-3-1 the front 4 could all play.

Also we have to think of the future. Can't be replacing the front 3 all at once. I reckon Bobby is likely to be the first to move on with Werner taking his role in 3 years time. By then we will have one of Sadio or Mo's replacement lined up. The last thing we need way down the track when Jurg finally moves on is a new manager having to build a whole new team at once. That almost always ends in tears unless you do something similar to Mou did when he first joined Chelsea and spend an absolute fortune on players.

Liverpool have targeted Talles Magno for their next generation of stars, as they adjust to a new Premier League financial reality.

Magno is just 17, but has already played almost a full season for his Brazilian club Vasco da Gama in the country’s top level Serie A, and is a regular with the U17 national side.

The tall forward is regarded as one of the most exciting emerging talents in Brazil, and can play a role similar to that of Roberto Firmino at Anfield.

Crucially, Vasco are facing serious financial trouble, with the Rio de Janeiro club forced to raise funds to meet debts which have mounted in the recent years.

Werner is a must in my opinion. With Mo and Mane missing early next year for the African Cup of Nations, Werner and someone else will be needed to fill the void. Hopefully Harry Wilson and Rhian Brewster will be up to the task as well.

Werner is a must but not exactly a replacement for guys like Mane and Salah when they go to AFCON. He's a pretty different player to those two. But I want him all the same as we need depth up front. Real quality depth, no disrespect to Div but the difference between him and a player like Werner is massive.

Div whether he stays with us or moves on, will always have his place in LFC folklore.
