They don't talk about it on the show much, but those houses will have one of those aircon/heating systems on the roof to provide general heating and cooling for the whole house. So with that, all the insulation they've used, and those fireplaces, I think they'll be fine.

Was a while I think. They showed footage of at least one of the couples (the girls, from memory) looking at the facade and plans for each house as part of the intros in the first episode.

Haven't watched this season because its become all about personalities rather than the early series which were about genuine renovations, but tuned in to see the auctions....this just proves that recent years with Adrian Portelli's bs over-inflated bids, and ridiculous reserves, have made it unrealistic. Hopefully channel 9 take heed of that, but I highly doubt it.

Yep. Wife and I said we would never go on it.

It's not exactly all on the contestants either. It's channel 9 setting the reserves with NFI on housing market in Daylesford. No house has sold for 3mill.

Also coming up with a strategy for house 4 is a joke. No other house got that opportunity.. GGF channel 9.

I don’t think it is a misreading of the market fueling the high reserve, it’s 9 and the production company setting a reserve to recoup their outlay and turn a worthwhile profit for their trouble.

But also, and this is mainly at the boys reaction to getting $110k, these people are not conscripted to the show against their will, they made the choice to go on because winning money was what they wanted. Saying the lack of bids was the disappointment, not the low result. I think if someone made a 3.5million opening bid they would have been stoked!

Perhaps this might set some more realistic expectations for next season.

I didn't mind it, I found it boring when everyone won ridiculous amounts of money.

A reality show where one group wins $500k, two win 100k (one won a car) and two don't win anything (pending sales this week) is about right.

The houses are over priced because they jam in 2 million in sponsor gear.

The judges also lead the contestants down the garden path to win weekly cash. By not exactly styling for mass appeal but for some rude judges.

Mt Eliza is okay, next to mornington but also next to frankston, near the beach is nice enough. It’s in Vic because the councils and planning are more friendly to production than Sydney was.
