In the interests of accountability, I thought it would be prudent so early in the season to just catalogue some very bold predictions so that we can look back on them and either confirm we are in the presence of genius, or possibly that viewing an eleventh of something and making judgments based on that amount of data is ineffective. Either way, I think it will be interesting. Viewing older threads and the opinions of one point in time always fascinates me.
I mean no negativity in posting the ones I've found. I make no implication whatsoever that they are either right or wrong. Anything is possible, you can't rule out any scenario definitively. I just want a little ideological time capsule for reflection, because hopefully that breeds productive thought in the future in either direction.
Post your bold prediction!

Roberton, Webster, Savage, Weller, Ross, Bruce, all entering their prime, just aren't that good.
Ross is a VFL standard player, Acres is an AFL standard player, enough said.
Our biggest issue is that we as supporters are completely over rating this list
Its not going to challenge for a flag
Im seriously doubting the ability of our recruiters to identify how talent will mature and progress
I just dont see us getting that improvement out of any of the draftees bar billings and maybe mckenzie/goddard/sinclair to be honest
You have to be able to identify the talent that will be elite in 3-4 years in. Not find talent that will show some signs in the first season then fade out after that with very little improvement.
Weve been gifting games to first years to try and show the list management is on track. Its like delivering quick wins on a project whilst the bigger milestones are falling further further behind
We have a solid base. The expectation should be that the elite talent shows some signs.
I think we need a shake up
where do you see the improvement coming from in mccartin? right now my concern is that he has literally no defencive side to his game and looks dead by the end of the first quarter. if the ball hits the deck, thats it, its over for him. he doesnt have the agility like say bruce does nor the height like say moore/daniher that allows them to complete in the air
i can see us helping him with his tank that will allow him to compete for longer and give him a defencive side to his game, but he's not going to get any better in the air and his agility isnt going to get any better. its like a poor mans mcgovern, a throw back to a bygone era. perfect as a 90s FF, out of place in 2016
what do people think of gresham. his size is a massive worry for me. he's not going to provide anything overhead, which is quickly becoming a very big concern of ours and i dont think he will be big enough to compete in the midfield at AFL level. his size wouldnt have been an issue at U18 level but it will be in 3-4 years time as midfields are getting bigger and bigger
We are in rebuilding phase, guys are young give them some time. Enough of rebuilding phase.
I am not sure what pre-season training we did over the summer?
I think we are going backwards this year and more than likely we will have another wooden spoon in our cabinet.
Positive thing, bring on draft pick 1 for next 10 years.
I am willing to bet that this wasnt the worst game of the year.
on paddy, he looks too short to be a KPF that can dominate the high ball like say a daniher can, likewise he is not quick or agile enough to be the third tall like a gunston and he doesnt have the mobility/tank to be a bruce that can deliver 2,3,4 repeat efforts. his agility is the biggest concern though, once the ball hits the deck, he cannot move quick enough to put in a 2nd effort. especially the turning circle stuff. his reaction time, hand to eye is fast but his body's reaction time in terms of movement is not, if that makes sense
i cant see his agility, speed or height improving. you cant develop that. they are attributes that are either there or not
commentators will be slaghtering our list after this game were going to get flogged. cloke will rise as he always does. moore will kick a pb.will be generally painful to watch. i will be at work so i wont be watching it. winning. hope im wrong.
Anyone peep at the next 6 games? Hows pick 1 looking if were 0 an 8?
Is Petrevski-Seten as good as people say?
Id say given the stuff being talked about in this thread, weve regressed massively.
Jack Billings has the same combination of skill and lack of ticker of Jack Watts. That's why he hardly ever gets a free against - because he never hurts the opposition. He's a soft, bruise free footballer.
