Apparently a statue of Tony Lockett that had been commissioned for the SCG has now been scrapped, due to the fact it "wasn’t capturing the essence of this particular sportsman."

I'll say... I don't think I've ever seen the big man that toned.

Apparently it's really to do with eyes and mouth.

Give the guy a break. A bronze Plugger to scale would topple because the legs wont be able to support the weight of the bronze on top.

Makes it worse, bronze is hollow but clay is a solid mass. Maybe that's why the face is all messed up. It kept toppling face first.

You are a goose, since when does an artist's rendering of a subject have to be a perfect likeness. This sculpture looks as much like Lockett as Barassi's and Whitten's look like them.

Of course his mouth was closed when he was kicking. He isn't kicking in the sculpture, he's lining it up. And he pretty much always had his mouth slightly open when preparing to slot one.

As for his eyes, I don't have a problem with him looking straight ahead. All good players do. I think they were wrong to bring those into it.

One of Plugger's thunderthighs is thicker than that statue. Whats with the anorexic body on that statue?!

That statue's a shocker, no wonder it has been scrapped. The face makes him look like he is about 80 yrs old and the body looks more like Nick Riewoldt than Tony Lockett.
