As a fan, it stung when Hamill left, but years later I heard and discussed with a mutual friend some other very justifiable reasons for him to depart as he did. All the key players have moved on now, but it'd actually be quite admirable on his part to return, given all of that. If this comes to fruition, I hope he's given some very reasonable benefit of the doubt for all that took place, rather than undue assumptions and insults.

Trust me, there was nobody as disappointed as me when he left, but having been at that B&F and seeing what went on that night, I didnt blame him at all. Elliot hurt our club more than what the media reported.

Said it earlier but 9 years at St Kilda and they're not fighting to keep him is a bit of a red flag for me.
What have you heard to suggest they're not fighting to keep him ?

It was an honour to have Bernd Wahler join the channel for a chat.

Bernd was the President of the German football club VfB Stuttgart between 2013 to 2016.

Additionally, Bernd served as CMO for adidas, Managing Director for Nikeand CEO of Bally.

The premise of this chat was in relation to the German Fan Model of ownership and what we as Carlton fans could learn about how international clubs operate to connect with their fans.

I'm sure you will find this interview as thought provoking as I did.

From the age article:
sam mcclure said:
Sources at St Kilda say that given the period of time Hamill has been at the club - approaching a decade - a fresh start could be needed for both club and coach.

It took the words to get some action from Williams so not sure he needed to say anything. Pretty sure the rocket up backside helped.
There's a fine line giving a roast on TV in the manner brown did, Williams responded with an improvement, coincidental or not, is irrelevant as he was on the end of some malicious SM contact, to the point the club had to mention it publicly.

I'm going to suggest that neither Zac's head slammng nor Brownie's comments caused the racist attack. The racism existed independently and will continue to find outlets. I like that it was called out and we should continue exposing and tracing wherever we can. Then mandatory education for racial vilifiers.

Article in the HS on the departure of SOS. Can anyone summarise/link a free copy?
It's pretty damning..

  • Kicks off talking about celebrations for 81/82 and our glory days under Elliot
  • Percy Jones - "Every year we were up the top and now we’re not – it’s hard to get used to". Subscribes that we still havn't recovered from sal-cap scandal, got rid of all men in charge and handed over to Collins whose agenda of moving us to Etihad was a farce. Gave a whacking to SOS over the lagging and then coming back on 500K a year bringing in GWS rejects etc. Although all the old ladies love SOS, many of the blokes are dirty on him.
  • Proceeds to give some insight into the broken r'ship between SOS and MLG now after what transpired. Liddle claimed to MLG that SOS would sabotage our trade and draft period if he remained.
  • "One club figure, who declined to be named, said LoGiudice had been “hoodwinked” by Liddle, who he said had formed a boys’ club of his own at Princes Park. Football boss Brad Lloyd, player acquisition and total player payment manager Michael Agresta and football operations and compliance manager Len Villani are linked through local football.".... main problem board has trusted the wrong people.
  • Mick Malthouse - being typical salty... review is a knee jerk reaction.. blaming board... Carlton has sacked more coaches in last 20 years, not good for Teague.

That was definitely heavily rumoured at the time as well I remember.

I don't know about Liddle, seems to work to his own agenda and wants to hold all the cards. I liked him early but there seems to be a common thread to rumours about him; he wants control and doesn't like people who won't follow him.

Quote from the article; choose to believe what you will. "The bad blood spilled over in November last year when Silvagni claimed Liddle had told LoGiudice he would have sabotaged the club’s trade and draft period if he had remained at the club."
I'm still highly dubious over mlg and his tenure, yes the club is 'flying' and he started a rebuild but rebuilds are no fuss and normal avenues for every other club I'm not sure he's done anything except oversee some pretty horror signings and firings and loads more turmoil. Hopefully sayers will have run a more stabilised club.

Seems to be very image over substance based which fits that personality type a bit too.

Totally agree SHT.

People like Percy fail to reconcile the link between the salary cap breaches/out spending everyone else and success. There was a reason we got rid of all the people in charge during the successful period. It is because the F'd the club.

Otherwise it it a hit piece on Liddle. Guess the un named source was someone in the SOS camp (not one of the people Percy knows that are still dirty with him for putting the club in when it was obvious we were nicked)

I suppose that fits with the membership numbers, too. "Let's give away thousands of free memberships and then claim we've smashed out membership record!".

Sure, technically you have, but there's no substance to that record. Record numbers are flimsy at the best of times, but giving away free memberships and claiming it as a record year feels rather hollow and entirely image based.

Was a plan to reward members for sticking with the club. It will be interesting to see how many of the free members resign. Get half of them and it is a good promotion.

Only thing that counts is membership revenue. Tigers have 100K members and couldn't get 10K to yesterdays game.

It still isn't a legitimate number and was advertised as a record breaking result.

But like I said, every clubs memberships numbers are... dubious to put it politely, so it's not a deal breaker.

Liddle out.
I don't care if membership is through the roof. It's fake news. If we don't have a positive tail end to the year, watch 20,000 pseudo free members disappear. Take that away what has he done except for alienate and lie to internal and external stakeholders to progress his clearly selfish agendas such as giving his unqualified mates jobs?

He's a charlatan masquerading as a CEO.

This is pure dribble.

Zac was down on form and was called out in the media. Zac signed up to be an AFL footballer and accepts that his pay check may come with criticism. This has absolutely nothing to do with a derogatory comment made by a troll. This has absolutely nothing to do with Adam Goodes stance. Your comments only perpetuate what you are attempting to defend, creating further divide and promoting victim culture.
Disagreement with a post/opinion/argument does not make said argument bad, wrong, 'dribble'. I tend towards putting a bit of thought into my posts, and this is not an unconsidered opinion.

I only point this out because I would like to know what I'm arguing against. If you want to argue substantively - which the rest of your post indicates - then I am more than willing to show my working out, although we may need find another thread or move to a PM for it.

If you're going to insulate yourself and your opinion behind dismissal of that which you disagree with, then I'm not going to waste my time.

Actually have just read it. Really, really poor article. The whole premise is that "ghost of cap rort haunts the blues".
The only thing that ties in to the headline is a few quotes from Percy (who we all love but understand is probably not the best source). Even Percy admits that linking anything back to the salary cap is a long bow

We all pretty much discount anything that makthouse says on the basis that he never had our clubs interests at heart on his farewell coaching book tour.

That leaves a raking over of quotes from the Liddle/silvagni bust up, all of which are on the record previously and none of which have anything to do with "ghost of cap rort haunts the blues".

Michael Warner seems to be going for the "man who tells it like it is mantle ". This article is just a lazy rehash of known facts and a few lazy opinions. Could probably write a better article canvassing the vies on this board.

For those who have been chasing a long sleeve Carlton jumper it looks like your prayers have been answered.

Have to register your interest on the Carlton site.

Have to agree with that - sure if we have room in the soft cap bring him in as a Development Coach to mentor on the stuff he was good at, application of effort, aggression, getting 100% out of yourself etc, but as a tactician, or line coaching not sure he’s going to bring any new IP.
