I feel for the guy. Coaches can take all of the instinct and enjoyment out of footy. Imagine only a few players having the freedom to take their chances and fail. This doesn't do anything to alleviate my dislike of Malthouse.

Coach has zero confidence in his players ability. How TF are they meant to perform?

They were doomed from the outset.

No chance to perform, no opportunity to learn from making mistakes, no nothing.

At least until we got 5 goals down, Mick threw up his hands and the team took it upon themselves to revert back to their run and gun style under Ratten.

Mick the Prick destroyed us for a good decade.

We were there to watch a footy marched around the boundary line for 90% of the game without any sense of a professional game plan.

That type of strategy may have maybe made sense if our number one ruck (Kreuzer) had played more than 1 game in 2014 or 13 in 2015 all of which coming after Malthouse was sacked. Perhaps then I could understand that there was strategy - you have a game winning ruck who becomes an extra ruck rover after the contest.

Little wonder the players loved the freedom Barker gave them as caretaker coach.

Very mature way to deal and manage your players as head coach, pathetic, I’ve been on record on here about my dislike for the bloke for a couple of reasons, in a way it justifies my gut feeling I’ve always had about the bloke...

His dirty hands were all over this appointment....we'd invested so heavily into getting Judd, we totally lost our focus for the sake of short term success...and failed dismally.

The game in question was a round 20 game culminating in our seventh successive loss. Defending a sixteen loss three win season up to this point. Probably still a chance to make finals in that narcissistic brain of Malthouse.

Would have been chock full of confidence and self esteem.

P.S. - Even his two games for GWS 2018 were losses.

Spot on.
It was the people that called for him to be coach and those that appointed him that deserve as much blame and maybe more.
I remember the madness well, of a good 60% of Carlton fans were wanting him and media circus also. It was bad enough just hearing the talk on public transport and talk back radio. Those clowns got their way and had to put up with that shit for a number of seasons. I remember also joining this forum when he was still coach and plenty thick as thieves that wanted him. The delusions was maddening. anyway, thankfully that shit is over the damage done is now over.

The 3 best thing that has happened at Carlton in the last 10 years in my order of importance has been:

1. Fluking Cripps
3. Bolton getting Russell over
4. SOS building the list

Liddle has done nothing - except ride the wave of positive sentiment SOS and Bolton created into membership growth; oh and knife one of the three positive things we had going and replace him with 3 goons with no track record.

I could be wrong though - it happens once a blue moon when pigs fly on broomsticks.
