AFL mid-season report: Who's firing, who's flopped?
We run the rule through the first half of an AFL season like no other. The highlights, lowlights and looking to the future.
An interesting take away is that we are second in games lost by best 22 but are one of the clubs who have used the fewest number of players. A number of ways to look at this:
1. Teague is not rotating enough
2. Teague doesn’t have the players available to rotate enough
3. When our best 22 is available, look out AFL.

Apologies if mentioned elsewhere, but I wasn't aware members from this year to have names etched in stone with our redevelopment.

Cute as, my whole family will be on there.

Amazing that only 1% of members across the board have requested their money back.

I don't know if it is, really.

It's already out of pocket, and generally people don't go super out of their way to get money they consider well spent back. And most people who buy memberships do it out of support; they want to be attending games sure, but the support is as much a part of it as anything else.

At the end of it all, regardless of the malarkey that is everything at the moment, I'm going to take two things out of this year: one, that people will complain to high heaven loudly to whomever will listen about any minute imposition over their lives; two, that at the end of it, the precise same people will go out of their way to help each other in ways big and small.

We might talk a shit game, but we're alright.

I feel as though JSOS doesn't have a future with us. Ever since his dad left the relationship between player and club seems uneasy.

Maybe it's all in my head I just get a bad feeling about this.

Unfortunately, I believe your "feeling" is warranted

It would be a real shame for so many reasons - mainly because I love him as a player and what he brings to the team - but I honestly wouldn’t blame him for having lost some affection for the place.
We don’t have to go back over the whole SOS situation and whether or not he was harshly treated, but whichever way you look at how it played out it’s easy to see that the Silvagni name was dragged through the mud. You’d hope that a professional player could separate the personal and the business side, but he’s a young guy who would appear to have a very close family.
Having said all that - I really hope he stays.

While a factor, Jack potentially leaving has little to do with how SOS departed

I'll be on there.

It was mentioned in an email I received a couple of weeks ago.

We need an ITK to squash this rumour, can't afford to lose JSOS.

JAB, perhaps Arr0w meant there isn't a clear spot for JSOS in the team...?

I love JSOS. I love his footy IQ, his hustle, his pressure.

But I don't think he plays in front of Charlie, Harry, McGovern, Levi, Martin, and a small forward or two. He probably misses out on a forward line spot in a fully fit squad (which never happens).

I'm not sold on him as a permanent midfielder either.

I think he'd make a great 3rd tall defender, but that's a position we also have well covered.

I'd almost play him in the 22 and somehow figure out a role for him to play.

But as it stands, he's borderline best 22. I'd hate to see him in another jumper, but he may get more opportunities at another club...?

JSOS was partly blamed in public for his dad being pushed out due to a perceived conflict of interest.

Would be hard being blamed for your old man being sacked, even if there is no truth in the rumour. Would be understandable to lose a bit of motivation and love for the club who did very Liddle to dispel the theory.

all fair points Ferris

I think his footy brain is A grade and he is a genuine utility player because he has the size to compliment his brains and can play multiple roles as required - these types aren't common.

still as you say - he may be better off at another Club -it may also be difficult to be in a place which houses a bunch of campaigners who knifed his father.

Yep, I perused the news and was bemused and confused by the headline ruse that the Blues could lose Krooz for 2020...
Ferris was it by chance, or did you choose to peruse the news before being bemused and confused by the ruse the Blues could lose Krooz, and with no game in the twos it's enough to hit the booze...

He might also be still pissed off at the dual standards about drinking while injured which only seem to apply to him and Ben, the clubs explanation of why seemed a Liddle off at the time.
