Who is big enough to stand up to Mumford without becoming another victim of a cheap shot? Do we send every player to him so he can knock them all down? Would only encourage the sniper.

So it's ok for our guys to be scared of the big bad man because he might retaliate? If our guys are thinking like that we've got a big problem.

Cripps stood up to him several times through the game, I don't recall Mummy giving him a cheap shot.

They are young but could have flown the flag in Numbers. I remember dipper paying out on Bradley in one of the early 80.s games, the mosquito fleet were all over him like a rash.

Dominator, Buckley, and couple of other small but tough nuts were attacking him from every angle.

Another time in front of the Elliot stand when they were still the Baby blues, Carl Ditterich spat on and Slapped around Rod Ashman some of the younger guys were first on the scene flying the flag. We have a many choir boys with no mongrel. Trading players like Mitch Robinson is political correctness gone mad.

The bigger they are the harder they fall. Close comradeship and sticking up for your mate's comes when you are a tight knit group you fly the flag and don't worry about the repercussions knowing your teammate will be right behind you.

As per my comment, Cripps got in his face several times with no consequence. Cripps might be big but he's nowhere near Mumford and it didn't stop him, and there were no ramifications.

Would be nice if someone besides Cripps would fly the flag for a change.

Did not see it. I truly believe if one of our guys did what Mumford did and injured player from opposing side we would be made to pay for it. I know we would have a suspended player out for 3 to 4 weeks. It is what we are dealing with in current AFL setup with people like Christian in charge and media types that will highlight and go hard for getting players suspended from clubs they have an agenda against. We are in no win situation whether anyone went after Mummy or not. Sad but true.

Having said that, I would have hoped if Casboult or some other big bodied guy saw it around Mummy size and age they did SOMETHING!!!

We have no right to do anything to anyone at the moment. Would rather our players focus on getting the ball and tackling with intent when we don’t have it. Pushing and bumping opponents just gives the umpires an excuse to pay them another free kick. Pointless.

Don’t forget Daisy bumped the tagger that was scragging Cripps and the umpire couldn’t blow the whistle quick enough to give GWS a free kick because the tagger “wasn’t expecting contact”. Can’t find that rule in the book, if it was then Cripps would have been paid more free kicks than a rampant Eagles team at Subiaco.

I don't think the players even realise there was anything wrong with the Mumford tackle at the time, even Cripps grabbed him but wasn't sure what happened and let him go.

And exactly Thomas was penalised straight away when he tried to protect Cripps, the days of even ups are gone.

I have seen our players from Fisher to Levi stand up to other teams many times. It was a game we where smashed and everybody is looking for reasons.

hahahaha i remember that exact free kick on casboult, the umpire said he 'threw the ball too hard and fast' laughed for about 5 minutes, this was awhile ago though.
