Ferguson hit a pretty authoritative 115 not out today. Was very strong off his pads.

Not much more than a yelp from most of the other batsmen. Hughes was caught high on his pads, Klinger played on after being dropped at second slip by Hauritz. Miller doesn't look up to it. Cutting bowled alright & Hauritz won't be troubling the national selectors again IMHO.

He certainly went on with it today. Good to see.

A couple of interesting pieces of news...

Australia A squad Phillip Hughes, Rob Quiney, Liam Davis, Alex Doolan, Andrew McDonald (capt), Tim Paine (wk), Steven Smith, Moises Henriques, Glenn Maxwell, John Hastings, Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Interesting the no sign of either Wade or Hads there. Happy for that to be the case if Wade is the Test keeper with Paine a better gloveman that Hads.

As a burgeoning flock of overseas spinners capitalise on the ICC's rules allowing 15 degrees of flex and thus the kind of flicked delivery required to bowl the offspinner's "other one", Inverarity said Cricket Australia needed to stay true to its previously stated view that the doosra would not become part of the spin coaching lexicon down under.

"The question is being asked now about 'do we develop the doosra bowlers or not'. That's a question of integrity for Cricket Australia. I don't think we do," Inverarity told an Australian Cricket Society lunch in Melbourne. "I just think it's a serious issue, and I think we've got to keep our integrity and teach our bowlers to bowl properly."

I don't quite agree with his take on the 15 degree matter. The playing conditions have been changed (which many of us don't agree with) and players now have to adjust to it. For Inverarity to say we won't be going near it is giving other sides around the world a leg up in a department that we are already weak in.

The idea of developing professional cricketers to take into account the Murali loophole is awful. The more of these guys that pop up, the more that advantage is diluted. As they pop up in first class cricket batsman adapt by experience.

And I'd say structurally Australian Cricket has bigger issues. Like batting depth and keeping fast bowlers on the ground.

Believe there is some form of roster being implemented for the fast bowlers. Cummins slated for the WACA test.

You seen much of him bowl? Best fast bowling prospect I've seen in years. <fingers crossed>

And yes, there is a roster over the series.

I'm huge wraps for the kid. Very exciting if his body holds up. Bowlers with whippy actions tend to come on a bit quicker than you expect early on. Think it's because as a batsman, it's harder to get the rhythm of their action. Imagine that at 150kms+.

I hope Josh Hazlewood has a good year. If he's fit & firing for the Ashes tour, I'll be wrapt.

Some really pleasing depth with the quicks.

Has anyone heard of a supposed teenage batting prodigy somewhere in country Victoria? Koori kid, I've heard. Just caught a couple of snippets of conversations around the traps.

Anyone know anything about this?

While Cummins has been left out of the New South Wales side for their Sheffield Shield match against Queensland, to start at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Friday, there is a chance the 19-year-old may be included as a substitute player for the last day of the match on Monday, with four of the Blues players due to join Australia's Test squad.

If NSW were bowling on the final day of the match, that would allow Cummins to ease his way back into Shield competition after spending the past two months playing Twenty20 cricket with Australia and the Sydney Sixers. Cummins, who has not played a first-class match for nearly a year, is expected to be considered for the third Test against South Africa in Perth, but only if his body and form holds up through Shield cricket in the meantime.

Reckon he is behind Bird these days, but he is a good prospect. Add in Coulter-Nile, Starc and Young McDermott and we are set for Quicks. Just need to find a decent couple of middle order players and a spinner

Another fine effort by SA to scratch past the 100....

They seriously lack heart do the SACAs at the moment. Collapse at the mere sight of pressure. Fair bit of talent in that side, shouldnt be producing these sorts of efforts.

Cowan failed again. Worrying signs at the moment for him. Barring his one slashing effort the other night, he;s had a bad start to the season

Yep. Quiney is the man for the job if Cowan drops away...

I've never been convinced by Cowan. He's a state cricketer and no more for mine.

Its a bloody disgrace. Do we not pay our cricketers enough money just to play ODI's and Tests?

Im nearing the point of the WI Board in saying you want to play in these rogue T20 comps, you won't be playing anything else (International T20, ODI's, Tests, State Cricket). The players themselves make the choice. The ball is in their court.

There's plenty of time as Warne, Haydos and Gilly have shown, to commit to your country first, then head off for your pension at the end of your career.

Cummins shouldn't be allowed near another 20/20 franchise for a very long time.
