I reckon he's perfectly suited to one day cricket. If his 'spin' bowling was decent enough to bowl the full quote, he'd be an awesome member of the side.

Similarly, I find the prospect of Watson and Marsh sharing 10 overs to be a good thing too.

I reckon, that current one day side is very, very strong.

I haven't seen the innings, but AB is clearly without peer. Have loved watching the guy bat for a number of years. He just makes it look so easy.

Some of the bowling was just out & out ordinary though. Gone are the days of the West Indies conveyor belt of great bowlers.

And none of our Hawks players have said the same thing regarding a clear free kick, or other test bowlers when they feel a wicket has been denied?

Um... No.

AFL is a different sport. Cricket the umpire is sacrosanct. My son plays cricket two years above his age group, he is a 12 yo devillish legspinner with an unpickable wrongun, and a very correct middle order batsman. At 11, playing in U14's he played an entire season, and was only out once run out without facing a ball in his first innings of the season. He averaged 272 with the bat, if he questioned an umpire's decision, he wouldn't be playing again that season.

Yet if he questioned an afl umpires decision, I'd think meh. Listening to AFL umpires through the mic's I can see why they are back-answered by the players. Questioning a cricket umpire however, is different. It's wrong. Telling one to fudge off is far enough beyond the line to warrant some sort of sanction in my book.

He learnt that from me when we used to open the batting together .

But seriously, he is very light on his feet and looks to come down to spin all the time. Similar to how Clarke and Smith play spin. I see him eventually taking a middle order batting position in the test side (hopefully after another 1-2 bumper years of shield cricket) - Has 348 runs from 4 innings so far this season including 2 centuries.

He has the technique to bat up at 3, but given the way he plays spin I think he would make an ideal 4-6 especially early in his career.

Sadly he doesn't keep that often anymore I don't think. Wade has the duties for victoria, and I believe he doesn't keep at district level for st kilda.

He was a good keeper back when i played with him, seems like he has really focused on his batting and put keeping aside.

I'm annoyed that more games aren't on free to air. Starc is amazing.

And yes, Maxy has really taken it up a level.

I gotta wonder whether KP's leadership when he batted with Maxwell in that T20 and helped steer him through that bad patch helped him turn the corner. Delicious if it did.
