I think the thread got de railed in to a Crows Vs Dogs "who is better thread"

The original statement (from a Crows fan) was that we are contenders.... sure we are, but so are 9 other teams who still could still win it. (Bombers, Dees, Freo, Eagles, Tiges and Blues no shot at flag)

Then people say we haven't beaten anyone of substance....

Eagles (we are their bitches and need to beat them this weekend to fully ditch the monkey)

North- Top 4 last year

Port- GF last year

Freo- soft as butter, but people still rated them pre season (as we always do)

We might not be up their with the Hawks and Cats, but i think you could throw a blanket over Dogs, Crows and Swans, with Power, North and Pies not far behind. Long way to go yet.... but if we can win the next 3 matches (against a struggling Eagles, Bombers at home and Tiges away), we will be a long way towards securing a top 4 spot.... even if we drop 1 of those.... But fi we can't beat those teams, we will struggle to push the top 2

To even mention the WA sides as quality this year is laughable.

Correct...

But your pre-season predictions for both of them were...?

Exactly.

If this were 2007 and we were playing WCE twice, Freo, North, Hawks and Port (last years grand finalist) that would be one of the toughest draws to date. We can't help that WCE and Freo have been playing shit this year.

Prove it

Mate, you have just ruined this thread for all it's worth with your childish remarks and biased arguments. But to the topic, Adelaide have really surprised me this year. I was expecting a bottom 6 finish. Premiership contender? no. Top 8 contender. Yes. But that hardly makes you a contender.

Everybody here who says the the CROWS have had an easy draw need to look at the GEELONG, HAWTHORN, BULLDOGS draw too. Realistically, ADELAIDE have had it tougher than most teams around them.

Perhaps the 2 hardest tasks in football would be to play against a team in the top 4 and to play an away game. Agreed ? Well using this as a measuring stick, ADELAIDE have had a tougher draw than any of the other current top 4 sides.

ADELAIDE have played HAWTHORN and BULLDOGS and travelled 3 times
HAWTHORN have played ADELAIDE and travelled 4 times
BULLDOGS have played ADELAIDE and travelled 2 times
GEELONG have played NOBODY and travelled 2 times

And before somebody argues that ADELAIDE have played more "easier" sides : From the bottom 6 teams (little chance of making finals) -

ADELAIDE have played 4 (WEST COAST, FREMANTLE, CARLTON and MELBOURNE)
HAWTHORN have played 3 (MELBOURNE, FREMANTLE and RICHMOND)
BULLDOGS have played 5 (MELBOURNE, ESSENDON, RICHMOND, WEST COAST and FREMANTLE)
GEELONG have played 4 (ESSENDON, MELBOURNE, FREMANTLE and RICHMOND)

So if ADELAIDE has had an easy draw, then what the hell have GEELONG and the BULLDOGS had ?!?! Only the HAWKS could compare with a similar draw out to the CROWS of the current top 4 sides.

Thank you.
End of discussion.

I think Adelaide is almost always a contender every year.....they just always seem to be up there and I have ALOT of respect for them.:thumbsu:

Dockers are pretty good i must admit just been unlucky.
That is the difference between the Very Good teams (Doggies, Cats and Hawks) and the good teams (Crows, Lions and Collingwood), is that they never give in and will always come back from any position.
If Freo played like they did against cats and doggies at subi against the crows they would have got a win on the board.

Come back to us when you are undefeated!

Really couldn't care less about the Bulldogs v Crows pi$$ing contest but your logic seems strange here in defining very good teams. I'd rate those three as clear "never give in" teams.

I am a passionate crows supporter but I'll be the first to admit that at the start of the season I though we'd be a bottom eight team even a bottom four team. With 2 young ruckmen, no key forwards, no hudsen, no welsh I though we were really going to struggle. But I am amazed at how well these two young ruckmen are going this year and Tippet up forward. Now I am really excited about our chances this year but really this year will only help us - even if we do drop off - we are still giving our youngsters vaulable game time

I was probably a little more optimistic than you. I saw us about 7th or 8th. So I'm happy to see them sitting in 4th, although we have a tough June/July coming up. After the halfway mark, we play HAWTHORN (AS), BRISBANE (G), GEELONG (SS), COLLINGWOOD (MCG), PORT (AS) and SYDNEY (SCG). If we can manage to win 3 of these we could be around 12 and 5 with 5 games to go. Those last 5 are against CARLTON (AS), RICHMOND (AS), ESSENDON (TD), ST KILDA (TD) and BULLDOGS (AS) and are all winnable.

Realistically, from here I see ADELAIDE ending up with about a 15 and 7 season, maybe even 16 and 6, which will possibly put us 4th. From there, it's anybody's guess !

Thanks man, i havent laughed that hard since they appointed Mathew Knights as the dons coach
No problem. We will win that elusive 17th flag before you win your next one.
Yeah I had the dogs in the 8, I also had Bumbers bottom. Im looking good arent I. You are a club going places. good adminastration, well coached, great kids coming through and real intelligent supporters.... Merged by 2012
Done well to tip the Doggies in the 8. Injuries have severely hampered Essendon's season. The silver lining is that our next batch of youngsters are all getting good game time which will prove invaluable in the long run. Merged by 2012? You feeling alright?
The Crows have now got a better percentage than Geelong.

If the Crows beat West Coast this weekend ... there is just one game in it.
Excellent. So do you think the Crows are at the same level as Geelong?

Collingwood thrashing Geelong in a way shows how silly trying to work out what's what at this stage of the season is. You can't really make a good argument until everyone has played each other and this year that won't happen for some teams until Round 21.

An assessment of each team needs to be done in isolation to other teams becaus the draw and circumstances are so different.

That's why its hillarious that Wallsy and Sheean make so many definitive statements On the Couch every week, when in depth analysis is needed to come up with any conclusion of substance, and the reality is, even then its guess work.

On Geelong, if the going gets tough this year, will they have the motivation to keep going given the drought has been broken? If they don't, that leaves it wide open as the Hawks although very good could become very ordinary with no Franklin.

Dogs Crows Pies are all viable options to spring an upset

One thing I can guarantee you - Melbourne, Fremantle, West Cost, Carlton Essendon and Richmond won't get close (despite all the advice above I make that prediction;))

Yeah that's about true I think.

We *should* be therabouts but it's too early to say. I'm hopeful and confident, but there's a long way to go. Can't wait til we play Hawthorn and Geelong at AAMI in the coming weeks, will be a good test for us.

Correct...

But your pre-season predictions for both of them were...?
But it's a easy non credible win when the Power beats WCE?

Can't have it both ways...

Adelaide have lost to 2 games this year, both to higher sides.

That suggests one thing, easy draw.

I will say Geelong, Hawthorn and Bulldogs have all had easier draws too, for the simple proof that they were all undefeated 24 hours ago.

But Adelaide has lost games to sides above them.

That's right, no body.
